I was on my way home on board the MRT as usual when the two malay guys about my age that was standing beside me started showing interest in my Nintendo DS Lite. After some babbling among themselves, they then approached me and started asking questions regarding the handheld console. First, the nature of its games, then comparing NDS with the PSP. One was more talkative (but stutters a lot) compared to the other.
While there's actually nothing wrong with that, I couldn't help but to feel that there's some hidden agenda behind their approach, bak kata pepatah, ada udang di sebalik batu. Hhhmmm, nostalgic moment. Using this phrase reminded me of my bm tuition teacher who always advise us to use these phrases (simpulan bahasa or peribahasa) as much as possible in our essays; supposed to be able to garner more marks by doing so based on his experience marking SPM papers. So, guess what I got for BM in SPM *grins*
OK, back to the original topic. All the time that I was talking to them, a voice in my head kept reminding myself to be cautious with them, pay extra attention to their movement, make sure that I face them always since my wallet's in my back pocket and my backpack has external compartments. Even when I pass the console to one of them for look and feel, I made sure that its always within reach and that we're not reaching a station anytime soon, in case they decided to make a run for it.
In the end, nothing unexpected occured, I guess it was just me being a little too cautious (or paranoia). But isn't it weird when all of a sudden, strangers approach you and become like, all too friendly and stuff; the basic reaction is definitely to be more alert and raise your guard, right? Side effect from taking public transportations in KL? I did feel bad later for misjudging their intention but as the saying goes, its better to be safe than sorry.
