Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Because I could not think of anything else to blog about at the moment, I shall leave you with a photo of the Sydney Harbour Bridge taken during the ferry ride from Parramatta to Circular Quay. Come to think of it, this was the one and only time that I traveled via ferry although the wharf is located a minute away from where I was staying.

Because unlike the train (which BTW takes just about 20 minutes less than the ferry to reach town), only one ferry departs from the wharf on an hourly basis and if you miss the scheduled one (or you couldn't get onboard), all the best as you will have to wait for the next one. Much more to talk about the train services but that's a story for another day.

And cabs are out of the question, too bloody expensive. A trip to town would probably cost you an arm and a leg, perhaps even your liver.

How I've missed the clear blue skies on a bright sunny day, the chilling wind that send you shivers during early mornings and late evenings; and most memorable of all, the night of May 6 when I happened to look up to the sky and witnessed one of the most beautiful sights in my life (thus far). Dark but clear skies covered in blankets of simmering stars of various sizes and intensity - most regrettably, I did not have my camera with me (not a habit to bring it along during weekdays, the notebook is already heavy enough). How I wish I could immerse myself at such sight once again and spend the night away gazing at such spectacle...

This could have been taken either in the morning, when the sun was rising above the horizon or in the evening, when the sun was setting beyond the horizon. I guess it totally depends on how one sees it, much like the half cup of water scenario, some see it as half full (optimistic, supposedly) while others see it as half empty (pessimistic, supposedly as well). So, what say you, sunrise or sunset?

p/s: Yeah, I know that I can easily check on the date and time but I couldn't be bothered to re-transfer the images and the wife is busy Bejeweled-ing on the iPhone.

Kuk-Fah.

This is the picture of a chrysanthemum (man, I had to Google for its spelling) taken under the evening sun. The droplets of water you see on the petals are manually implemented. Kuk-Fah, as stated in the title of this post, stands for chrysanthemum flower in Cantonese btw, just in case you were wondering.

This is the same picture of the chrysanthemum above, only cropped at 100% around the center. Truth to be told, I was pretty surprised that the kit lens (coupled with a +4 macro filter) is able to capture images with this amount of sharpness and clarity myself. But then again, perhaps 100% is not 'that' close-up.

How?

Most of the vertical images posted here has been cropped because, if I maintained the width of 500px here (and I use 600px for horizontal images), the height would run to 750px which would require a little effort on scrolling before seeing the whole image. Unless you're using like 1280x1024 or 1920x1200 or incredibly high resolutions like 4096×3112. Just kidding, the final figure is for projectors.

Sometimes, I have this cropping versus image size dilemma, to crop would cause the image to lose its perspective and the subject's angle and making it smaller somehow causes the image to lose its appeal. Its like on one hand you're holding a Zinger and on the other, a Chicken McDeluxe but you can only have one.

In Between.

This is Adrian who blogs at adrianclw.diaryland.com. He's also part of a home bakery business that specializes in cakes, named Cake Indigo, that does delivery as well, good stuff (both cakes and service) I tell you. Adrian is seen here holding a Canon 400D equipped with the 50mm f1.8 lens dengan penuh bergaya.

Picture was taken during the photo shoot outing last Saturday evening. If you sense some reluctance in his expression, it might be due to the fact that he was forced into posing for this photo, further enhanced by extreme tiredness. But its not always that one would be witness such a beautiful background of the sky in different color tones.

Adrian, someday, you will thank me for forcing you into this one, I know you definitely will.

An Outing.

A photography outing, to be more exact. One organized by a particular group I got to know not too long ago. Other than Master Cake Adrian, all the others were total strangers, no issues, you and I were once strangers as well, ain't that right?

It was an evening shoot, at the location where all the government's administrative buildings are located and boy, was it hot and humid over there. There were lots to learn, much were discussed, some skills were taught and others, realized from limitations.


But one thing that really made the whole experience, all the time and energy spent worth while, was when I realize how much I actually enjoy taking photographs. How I squeal with delight within myself, a smile carved on my face, upon pressing the preview button and I see a picture that turn out just the way I had expected it to. How exciting it is to be getting the right angle, at the right time, on the right settings. To have kept my camera inside the bag aside for so long, I almost forgot how it felt, how much it all meant to me.

I have to say that being able to do what you enjoy doing is definitely one of the best feelings a person can ever experience.

Illuminated.

Totally unable to remember where I took this. Just vaguely recalling the feeling of being awed by the spotlight brightly illuminating the leaves in its strong yellowish golden rays, hence, this image.

Browsing through my image libraries, I realize that I take more vertical images than horizontal ones and the thing about verticals are, its pretty hard to re-size them properly to be posted on blogs. I usually have to crop out bits at the top and bottom in order for the image to appear almost just right on the screen, else, it would be too small. Any other suggestions?

Perhaps it has gotten used to my presence with the camera, I was somehow able to get just a little closer to the bird. Or maybe its the other one, the male perhaps but since both of them looks equally the same, I don't think its possible for me to differentiate them. What I can tell you is that, this is not an easy shot, hehehe.

Not difficult in terms of technicality but more towards the patience and time spent to get a good and clear shot of the birdie.

Dried Flowers.

Sounds much better and in peace compared to Dead Flowers. Has been hung on the metal hangers of the car porch for the longest time ever, exposed to heat rays, thunderstorms as well as strong winds. Belonged to sis, still pretty unsure why she had left it there for these durations.

Birdie.

It made a nest in one of the trees in our garden, whenever someone walks near the nest, it would maintain a safe distance while chirping away loudly. Numerous attempts to feed it with nasi, beras, cacing, buah-buahan - inclusive of apple, orange, mango, pear, papaya - have failed.

My neighbour's neighbour is beginning to annoy me very much. Ever since their autogate broke down or they had it removed, whichever it is, they had been honking for their maid or someone to come out then open them gates (to park their vehicles in) every time they return. Be it sunshine or rain or a cool evening or early morning or late afternoon or nighttime, without fail... like, what the hell?

And its just not like a single honk or twice, they go continuously like HHHOOONNNN, HOOONNN HOOOONNNN HONN HHOOOONNNNNNN HOONNN HONNN HONN HONNN HON HON HOOONNNNNNNN!!! Bloody hell, its not like their too poor to just fukin' make a call, its either a Honda CRV or a Mercedes or a Vios that did the honkings.


I once stared cock at who I assumed to be the father and the honking did stop for a while but now it has started again. Old habits do die hard. I think I'll get him a prepaid card this time.

Up, Close but Nothing Personal.

Just playing around with the Close-Up (+4) Filter in my usual testing ground - it does make a difference to close up shots, although not that distinct but still noticeable. Not too bad for something that costs just slightly above 60 bucks.

No idea what this plant is but before the flower blooms, it looks delicious. lols. And the flower usually lasts for just a day
