Fearing we couldn't make it on time as her leave request was rejected, I chauffeured the girlfriend to work and back, just because my car is more stable at high speed, nothing to do with her driving skills. Half way going up the slopes, an accident had occured earlier on the opposite lane, resulting a bus, windscreen smashed, lying sideways on top of a badly damaged van. I only managed a quick glimpse and it got me going from 60km/h, slowing down to 45km/h. Other than that, most of the time, the engine sounds as though its gonna meletups anytime due to over-working; had no one to refer to for a second opinion because as usual, she's fast asleep. Happens EVERY SINGLE time. And closing on to the top, the mist/fog/whatever was so thick that visibility was reduced to around 5 meters, at most. So scary can! Anyway, the fog lamp served its purposed, for the first time ever.
Scoured around for food in First World Plaza, had dinner, last minute shopping by hers truly, a habit acquired lately, happened when she was in SG previously as well. Headed into the Arena of Stars around 8pm and was pretty glad that I'm seated just behind the few VIP rows. Unfortunately for me, the ladies seated in front of me initially (moderate height, perfect viewing angle for me) were coaxed into exchanging seats with a rather huge gentleman, apparently, he's seperated from his friends by them. Blah Blah Blah, they finally came to an agreement wtf, much to my displeasure. He practically blocked 61% of my once perfect view, I had to exchange seats with her in order to take photographs. Sorry baby, I promise to try and win more free concert tickets OK? By 8.30pm, the lights went off and the audience went crazy hysterical frenzy berserk, every single one seemed to be screaming her name at the top of their lungs, especially the guy behind me who posessed the loudest, highest pitched voice I have ever came acrossed.
Makan first. There's the salted veggy with tofu soup, white radish soup, braised chicken with mushroom and seasoned deep-fried chicken wings.
The girlfriend with the Maxis Hand. Green colour, so ugly.
The stage. Initially I thought it was supposed to be represent SAMMI, but its missing an M. I concluded that its supposed to be Show Mi, the theme of her concert, cause SO sounds pretty similar to SHOW, right? I'm so smart can?
Then you could see all the digital cameras (the display screens) anticipating her appearance, and when she did, bolts after bolts of flashes were released. At this point, I remember that earlier on, there were announcements stating that no photography and filming were allowed in the arena, in many, many languages. So much for rules eh? For the initial songs, I was left wondering, whether the individual on stage was really Sammi Cheng, as the wig covered both her eyes, making it pretty difficult for a non-hardcore-fans like me to identify, but the confirmation came right after that ridiculous thought crossed my mind, she removed the wig, looking much, much better without it. After belting out a few songs, most of it I've never heard before, from her new album perhaps, and a change of clothes, which I felt has toned down quite a lot, as it used to be costumes, she began talking about what she had been doing for the past year, after announcing her decision for a long break from the entertainment industry. It then shifted to something more personal, her relationship with her parents, especially her dad where at one point, the contents of her dad's letters to her were displayed on the background to as she performed another number. So touching.
Sammi! After taking off her wig, with a dancer posing next to her.
Donning another huge, weird wig, with dancers in weird costumes. The belt, had a marquee of her name, so cool! But it accidentally came off halfway into the song.
After another change of clothes, glowing radiantly, this is the part where she was talking about her long break as well as relationship with her parents.
Then on came her guest performer, Hins Cheung Keng Hin, I heard of him (he once judged for the Grand Finals of the International Level for Astro's Talent Quest, or something like that) from the girlfriend's younger sister. Honestly, I've never heard any of his songs before but judging from his short stint, he does posess an incredible and powerful vocal, much to the approval of the audiences. He did a duet with Sammi, before she passed the stage to him, where he performed an additional 2-3 singles of his own. Interacted a little with the audience as well, of his admiration for Sammi as well as how he used to grow up to her songs as well. That's all for now, will continue in Part 2, need to rush of for training now and I just found out that my short clip of her performance didn't get uploaded properly, so sad. More details of the concert, as well as pictures coming up!
Sammi and Hins. I forgot what song they performed, but it was cute, :P.
Got receive flowers one leh, not bad eh? It might be from his super fans who bought Sammi's ticket just to catch a glimpse of him, wwwooohhh!

Hi anonymous. Enjoyed it thoroughly, especially her wicked sense of humour, always managed to draw a laugh from me. Uhrm, since I got these tickets for free, I'm not complaining, hahaha. And glad that you enjoyed reading it, as much as I enjoyed writing them.
