Sammi Show 'Mi' 2007, Genting Pt.1.

Fearing we couldn't make it on time as her leave request was rejected, I chauffeured the girlfriend to work and back, just because my car is more stable at high speed, nothing to do with her driving skills. Half way going up the slopes, an accident had occured earlier on the opposite lane, resulting a bus, windscreen smashed, lying sideways on top of a badly damaged van. I only managed a quick glimpse and it got me going from 60km/h, slowing down to 45km/h. Other than that, most of the time, the engine sounds as though its gonna meletups anytime due to over-working; had no one to refer to for a second opinion because as usual, she's fast asleep. Happens EVERY SINGLE time. And closing on to the top, the mist/fog/whatever was so thick that visibility was reduced to around 5 meters, at most. So scary can! Anyway, the fog lamp served its purposed, for the first time ever.

Scoured around for food in First World Plaza, had dinner, last minute shopping by hers truly, a habit acquired lately, happened when she was in SG previously as well. Headed into the Arena of Stars around 8pm and was pretty glad that I'm seated just behind the few VIP rows. Unfortunately for me, the ladies seated in front of me initially (moderate height, perfect viewing angle for me) were coaxed into exchanging seats with a rather huge gentleman, apparently, he's seperated from his friends by them. Blah Blah Blah, they finally came to an agreement wtf, much to my displeasure. He practically blocked 61% of my once perfect view, I had to exchange seats with her in order to take photographs. Sorry baby, I promise to try and win more free concert tickets OK? By 8.30pm, the lights went off and the audience went crazy hysterical frenzy berserk, every single one seemed to be screaming her name at the top of their lungs, especially the guy behind me who posessed the loudest, highest pitched voice I have ever came acrossed.

Makan first. There's the salted veggy with tofu soup, white radish soup, braised chicken with mushroom and seasoned deep-fried chicken wings.

The girlfriend with the Maxis Hand. Green colour, so ugly.

The stage. Initially I thought it was supposed to be represent SAMMI, but its missing an M. I concluded that its supposed to be Show Mi, the theme of her concert, cause SO sounds pretty similar to SHOW, right? I'm so smart can?

Then you could see all the digital cameras (the display screens) anticipating her appearance, and when she did, bolts after bolts of flashes were released. At this point, I remember that earlier on, there were announcements stating that no photography and filming were allowed in the arena, in many, many languages. So much for rules eh? For the initial songs, I was left wondering, whether the individual on stage was really Sammi Cheng, as the wig covered both her eyes, making it pretty difficult for a non-hardcore-fans like me to identify, but the confirmation came right after that ridiculous thought crossed my mind, she removed the wig, looking much, much better without it. After belting out a few songs, most of it I've never heard before, from her new album perhaps, and a change of clothes, which I felt has toned down quite a lot, as it used to be costumes, she began talking about what she had been doing for the past year, after announcing her decision for a long break from the entertainment industry. It then shifted to something more personal, her relationship with her parents, especially her dad where at one point, the contents of her dad's letters to her were displayed on the background to as she performed another number. So touching.

Sammi! After taking off her wig, with a dancer posing next to her.

Donning another huge, weird wig, with dancers in weird costumes. The belt, had a marquee of her name, so cool! But it accidentally came off halfway into the song.

After another change of clothes, glowing radiantly, this is the part where she was talking about her long break as well as relationship with her parents.

Then on came her guest performer, Hins Cheung Keng Hin, I heard of him (he once judged for the Grand Finals of the International Level for Astro's Talent Quest, or something like that) from the girlfriend's younger sister. Honestly, I've never heard any of his songs before but judging from his short stint, he does posess an incredible and powerful vocal, much to the approval of the audiences. He did a duet with Sammi, before she passed the stage to him, where he performed an additional 2-3 singles of his own. Interacted a little with the audience as well, of his admiration for Sammi as well as how he used to grow up to her songs as well. That's all for now, will continue in Part 2, need to rush of for training now and I just found out that my short clip of her performance didn't get uploaded properly, so sad. More details of the concert, as well as pictures coming up!

Sammi and Hins. I forgot what song they performed, but it was cute, :P.

Got receive flowers one leh, not bad eh? It might be from his super fans who bought Sammi's ticket just to catch a glimpse of him, wwwooohhh!

I Can't Get No, satisfaction.

Ranting Starts. If you're feeling pretty pissed, please be aware that continuation of reading would only lead to your anger being aggravated and mutiplied by 42.

Yesterday's journey was extremely tiring and time consuming. Firstly, the departure was delayed around 10 minutes (which is quite a lot by Aeroline's standards) because apparently, someone lost her ticket and only after much searching and reconfirmation, managed to get it reprinted. By then, traffic was already bumper to bumper, the so-called government sector congestion. Next, came all the highway repairs and extensions that seems to take forever for completion, where all lanes were off limits except for one. Super bottle neck can die dot com dot my. The worst of all was, I forgot to grab a bite before the journey (only had McD Big Breakfast and a Banana Pie in the morning); my stomach probably bit a huge chunk off my kidney, as well as my liver to quell the hunger, and the food served was quite bad. *Envious of her who always get sedaps-sedaps food to eat everytime*

When we finally reach the Pagoh rest area for a quick 20 minutes break, some idiots just had to take their own sweet time for everything. Ended up spending close to 40 minutes there, more than enough time for me to have the Nasi Briyani I was eyeing on. Arrggghhhh! The final delay was at Tuas Checkpoint, where the totally hawt, sexy and attractive passenger who loves Pringles seated next to me wasn't aware that she has to obtain a visa (foreign, I reckon) in order to enter Singapore. What else, denied entry loh. It took quite a while to settle her issue, as we were stranded for quite some time there. Sidetrack. Previously, I always wonder what happens if you're denied entry into SG at Tuas, since there's not a single mode of public transportation, or cabs available there. Finally, found out yesterday that you'll be transported to Woodlands, not particularly sure it'll be FOC.

Upon alighting, for the first time ever, there were no cabs available.

Singapore + No Cabs = Shocking Discovery + WTF!

So I had to lug all my stuff to the nearest taxi stand to get one, only to be greeted by long queues and cabs On Call. I totally gave up after 30 minutes, and took the MRT instead. 9 stations, 2 trains and an interchange later, I was lost. Managed to finally flag a cab much, much walking later only to be informed by the cabbie that he wasn't sure of the exact location. A few phone calls and many, many turnings later, I was finally there. First thing that crossed my mind, the place was hideous and next, there were NO LIFTS!

Singapore + No Lifts = Absolutely, Totally Shocking Discovery + WTF! WTF! WTF!

Had to lug my heavy luggages up the stairs OK! Fortunately, the interior's not that bad after all, renovated quite recently I guess as everything looks brand new. Housemates, a pretty disorganized bunch I guess, its expected from single guys living out but my roommate, practically left a trail of mess on every corner of the room. WTF LAH! Not only that, seems like the AC Unit in my room is pretty emo, it would switch off suddenly, had to head out to the living area and reset the compressor's power outlet in order for it to function again. I was doing that the whole night OMG. Since I'm on a ranting spree, might as well include that this guesthouse is so much further from office, compared to the previous one. So, I have to leave the house 30 minutes earlier, which means less sleep and also pay more for the MRT fare!

Current Jed = Very Unhappy Jed. Ranting Ends.

p/s: Any passer-by from SG with rooms available for rent, around 6 months? Preferbly somewhere close to Jurong East. Please be reminded that I am a stingy person, make that very stingy.

Leaving.

In just less than 2 hours, I shall be heading to the Land of Half Lion Half Sea Creature once again, and this time around, it'll be for around 6 months. Yes, 6 months, and you can stop rubbing your eyes now.

Will be back once in a while, till I see you all again, physically, goodbye!

Chinese Desserts.

Dearest Mummy made one of my favourite desserts, Fan Shue Tong Sui and honestly, let me clarify with y'all firsthand that I have absolutely no idea what its supposed to be called in English. Tapioca in Sugar Water? Do inform you if you happen to know, pretty please. Its a pretty simple dish, the ingredient consist mainly of tapiocas, sago, sugar and some ginger but the outcome, totally irresistable, at least for me. Basically, the sugar is dissolved to make the sweet soup which would be the base, while the ginger, just to add a slice of heatiness (as in the taste, not temperature) into the soup. The tapiocas, Mum normally uses a variety of them, mainly the purple ones, the yellowish ones and the orangy ones, each having their own texture and sometimes, distinct taste. They're cut into cubes for better flavouring, as well as, easier to consume, obviously.. The sago, I'm not really sure what they're for, make the concoction thicker and stronger perhaps because without them, it just doesn't taste the same, its as if one of the main ingredients are missing. How to cook, I'm not too sure... but logically, should be make the base first, then add in the tapiocas then finally the sago. Anything else, go figure.

Tadah. Tapiocas in the pot, generous servings! The white-ish ingredient you see is not radish, its come kind of plant normally used for herbal soups (Yuk Juk)

Marvellous stuff! The girlfriend loves them as well.

At this point of time, Mum was already getting annoyed with me snapping away instead of eating the dessert. In a way or another, she said I was a little nutty.

On a totally different note, I came across this when surfing through Mr.Brown's site. It's a reality series, or rather, talent competition that revolves around singing, I guess in the UK. Some of you might have probably came across it before, but for those who hasn't, die-die also must watch. I had to admit that it almost made me teared, do tell if you happen to experience the same. Now sit down, wait patiently for it to load, and watch!

She managed to make it to the Finals, but it was won by a Mobile salesperson who sang opera, like a pro.

p/s: This has been the longest run of posts that didn't receive any comments at current time (18 posts). Nobody loves me anymore, so sad... :P

Too Late.

I never thought it would turn out this way, perhaps I had really spent too much time with one and not realizing that I've neglected the other, hence the jealousy. Or maybe I've been too naive, thinking I could manage my time fairly among everyone, which is close to impossible. Should have seen this coming, although not expecting it to be that soon, as there were minor misunderstandings here and there all these while. This time, it seems things took a wrong turning and got out of hand, as one of them got hurt, minor injuries but still, left me pretty much shocked. The First Wife decided to show who's the boss and unfortunately, the Second Wife got in her way...

Hahaha. Actually, the girlfriend accidentally scratched/scraped *whatever* my car, she made a mistake estimating the turning radius while parking in Cheras Plaza last Saturday. Apparently, she got a little anxious (and impatient too) when she finally saw an empty parking lot and immediately dived the car in, as there were quite a number of vehicles following her. Turning too wide, the right area of the front bumper made contact with the steel reinforced pillar, and that's how she injured my Second Wife for the very first time. There goes my baby, injured on the left by Dad and on the right by the girlfriend, nearly identical damages, what a coincidence.

You should have seen her face, when she tried to tell me about it in the first place. Priceless...

Ma Peow. Ma Peow.

It was a fine Sunday evening and just after dinner in a particular restaurant that TheFamily frequent, Dad was approached by the MaPeowMan (a nickname I gave to individuals selling lottery tickets). Being his usual self, he'll definitely get a few, then Mom decided to get one for herself as well and just for fun, I had the girlfriend, who joined us for dinner, to get one as well, since she never bought any before (in the end, Dad paid for all one lah). She got me wondering if she was trying to find some specific number combinations since she took the longest time ever to select one ticket *sweat*

Anyway, later on, I had her scratch all the tickets, for the mini jackpot part (similar to tikam) and she managed the following winnings, 2 x RM6 and 4 x RM3, out of just 7 tickets! Though not really that much, but that's quite close to an 86% strike, quite lucky eh? So Dad took an additional 8 tickets. At this point, I kinda wondered a bit, not really sure if its a culture or what because often, I see people exchanging the winnings with more tickets instead of requesting for cash, unless its a large amount. Out of the 8 new tickets, the girlfriend still managed to get another 2 x RM3, meaning another 2 tickets. So, the initial purchase of 7 tickets turned into a frenzy of tickets exchanges and the final amount came up to 18 tickets. The most purchase I've seen was during a family dinner, where all the relatives shared to buy close to 100 tickets, even managed to win some electronic appliances out of those tickets.

And so, don't concluce that there's nothing such as first timer's luck... tickets, anyone?

Marche VivoCity.

Dinner @ Marche VivoCity after the short trip to Sentosa. Needless to say, long queue ahead and that suddenly made me realize that Singaporeans are quite willing to queue for food, its almost like a culture, to eat, just queue first. Unlike me, I would rather search for some other restaurants, waiting for food is just a no-no and I think the same goes for most Malaysians, right? Back to the queue, the restaurant actually serve tidbits and drinks to the waiting customers, free of charge, which I find is a very pleasant gesture. But overall, I felt that the variety of food is quite limited here, if compared to the branch @ TheCurve, Malaysia and the layout, with all the narrow walking spaces, a little too cramped to my liking. Oh, and instead of the cardboard passport, they've implemented the Touch Card system here, a lot more convenient to carry around while hunting for food.

Fully packed to the max! We were seated in a sectionized area, away from all the narrow walkways, fortunately. But still, I had to be extra careful in order to avoid knocking into others.

I think this is called Rosti but I'm not sure, hahahas. It reminds me of the malay delicacy, yellow in colour, and in the end its wrapped into a bundle.

The girlfriend had these, some pasta thingy where the cream was too strong with some veggy (leek, I think) taste. Had to removed tons of those in a spoonful, dang.

Smoked Salmon. According to others, it tasted alright. I dunch know, didn't feel like eating salmon that day.

Roasted half-chicken. As you can see, here, instead of serving mashed potatoes as a side-dish, its bread with sprinkle of herbs for flavouring.

Cheese stuffed sausages. All I can say is, its yummier than the Ayamas ones back in KL, could fare better with more cheese.

Grilled chicken breast. Its easy to spot who's the health-conscious one, eh?

And now, ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you, ze fried pork knuckle. Needless to say, this dish is belongs to me, the glutton. Crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, would be perfect if the portion was larger. And the bread, its like a baguette gone soft.

Chocolate cake for dessert, anyone? Even with the 5 of us, the cake was nearly left untouched, most of us were already stuffed to the brink of exploding. However, the cake's still a must because...

It's her birthday yo! I hope I won't get a bashing for putting this picture up, hahahas. Interested? For more information, please click here.

Between Him and Me.

A heart to heart with another fellow programmer, Adrian on our job:

jed @ KL says:
ish

adrian DiGil says:
Anyway, now really no time lor. go home just sleep. morning wake up at *censored name of client* midnite reach home sleep

jed @ KL says:
fated (an inside joke on him). ahhhahas

adrian DiGil says:

jed @ KL says:
at least i get to blog

adrian DiGil says:
shit u r damn true

jed @ KL says:
lols *dances around*

Also to prove that when 2 programmers talk, we use English in proper grammar and structure instead of programming syntaxes, pseudocodes or what-so-ever that might've crossed your mind previously. Hehehe. But then, working for this particular client must be pretty hard, because another friend informed me that he just came back from the same client's place, and the time was 5.30am. WoW!

Sentosa Pt. 2

Next in line was the Carlsberg Sky Tower where I seriously think they should've considered distributing free beer (to those legal of age lah), that would be a really great selling point, don't ya think so? At least for me, I mean, if it was not included in the package, never would I have even slightly considered paying $12 dollars just to be gently revolved up, then down the 131 metres tower, for 7 minutes in a slightly stuffy environment (weak air conditioning). Of course, unless if you enjoy sceneries, clear blue skies for the day and city lights (if clearly visible) at night. I would still stick to my idea of free beer. Oh, not forgetting, yet another photography scam here ($20 dollars as well). I can't help but to be reminded of Genting, where for everything you feel like doing, you have to pay first, besides using the washroom I guess, and taking pictures.

Adjourned to Skybar to get our dose of Sky Cooler, which I initially thought would be Iced Water since Sky refers to sky juice and cooler, ice, what else? Instead, it turned out to be Sprite (or 7-Up, couldn't remember) with mint flavouring plus a marshmallow on the straw, which I had no idea on whether its just a decoration, or its edible. Being me, I just ate it, don't care but I have to admit that the drink, its certainly refreshing. Some of us went to redeem the Merlion photos (forgot about it earlier on) while the others sat and chilled in the relaxing environment.

View of Singapore and some harbour (HarbourFront) when revolving up the Sky Tower.

Isn't it great, if the Battleships have this kind of settings and simulations, HMS Washington, navigate to B4 and fire at will!!!

Another view. It revolves, remember?

Sky Coolers as Skybar. The one without the Marshmallow is mine, aahhrrmmm!!! Yums!

Destination, Fort Siloso. Took the feeder bus to the final stop of our package just to find it closing off for the day, at approximately 5.30pm. So sad can! I wanted to check out all the guns and cannons! I wanted to explore all the old tunnels! The photographs! The documents!! Film strips!!! Nevermind, there'll always be a next time since the admission fee is not really that expensive anyway. And so, we headed to Siloso Beach instead where once again, I was a little overdressed, thought not as bad as the other time, its just tee, jeans and sneakers.

Contrary to popular beliefs, Siloso Beach is not laden with bikini babes spotting killer abs and hour-glass figures, perfectly tanned skin, running and giggling around happily. Or maybe I chose a wrong time to be there, the word disappointment must be written all over my face since the girlfriend asked me if everything's alright. Sigh. On a different note, you know what, after being to Lang Tengah, all the other beaches that I head to, doesn't seem to interest me anymore, even the slightest bit. The sand here is rough and coarse, the seawater, no idea since I didn't try it out. Swimming in just plain underwear is a no-no for me. Walked around for a while, crossed some floating wooden platform to the other side, snap some pictures then it was time to call it a day, since all our stomachs were asking to be fed, rumbling madly. No to forget, while re-crossing the platform towards the main island, the girlfriend saw a young couple in the water, the boy was kinda stationary while the girl was moving up and down, as though they were having *ahems* some exciting fun. In the end, I still have no idea what they were really doing.

Part of Siloso, suring sunset. See for yourself, everywhere, guys in shirts > girls in bikini.

Rames's favourite obsession, clouds, clouds and more clouds.

View of Siloso Beach from across the floating wooden platform.

Meet the tree hugging environmentalist. Lucky tree.

Her, doing the infamous SmashPop jump @ Siloso beach. How Pop? Happy and proud or not? Forgive me for the quality though.

And this is the girlfriend, at various attempts trying to capture a jumping shot of me. Needless to say, she gave up.

Walked from one end to the other end of Siloso Beach, which was like, half the total length of Sentosa, not that big after all, eh? Well, all in all, I would say that Sentosa is filled with interesting but pricey activities to do and places to visit. Basically, one full day is close to enough in order to experience almost everything unique the Island has to offer, should consider offering cheaper packages, eh? One thing that is bugging my mind, since Sentosa is not THAT far away from the mainland, how come everything is slightly more expensive? Its not like Genting where they had to send it so far up. *wonders away*

Last but not least, a short clip of the sunset there. Nothing amazing though, keep your expectations low. HeHes.

Moving forward.

Yes, it is true what you've read from her blog, I'm being relocated by TheCompany to the SG office for a duration of 6 months due to lack of resources for a running project. Ironic how things turn out to be, me, supposingly employed for the KL office, yet, I've been working there more than here, as though, I'm some sort of cheap professional labour. Well, that's the feeling I get from all the previous frequent short project stints. It was a predicted move anyway, one could have seen it coming, judging from the amount of work here (like vacation) and there (like hell). And so, I guess you'll be seeing less and less of me roaming the streets of KL, if my presence were actually ever noticed in the beginning. *laughs*

So many preparations and decisions to make, yet so little time. The most important of all being looking for new accomodation since I can't live in the guesthouse for free anymore (TheCompany charges $500 per month, which is insanely high, considering its on shared basis). Next, I'm planning to switch to prepaid, and cancel off my current number, unless there's an option to downgrade. Global roaming for six months, is close to being mad; will update you guys on the new number once I've finalized my options. I'm being really indecisive on getting a notebook or not, cause on one side, at least I'll have some sort of entertaintment during my long stint there. Looking at the current hardware resources, I aborted my plans to request for one from TheCompany as chances of approval = 0.1%. Tsk. Tsk. On the other hand, its a definite financial strain for me (settling down in SG would require quite a huge sum of money as well), moreover, the dSLR still top the most wanted list. :P

But the biggest decision of all, would definitely be the point where TheBoss was seeking a confirmation, whether I agree to the relocation. I don't think I'm actually given much choice at all because if I disagreed, I'll definitely be sent back to KL with nothing on hand (makan gaji buta) since the market's pretty quiet here, I might as well start looking for another job. If I agreed, I would be spending the next half of 2007 in SG, away from all the comforts and familiarity of KL, friends and family, also, away from the girlfriend. Basically, its a choice between career and relationship, only after much discussion with her that it came to this current decision, not exactly a total agreement, but its the best that we can work out.

I'll be leaving on the 28th of June, anyone who wanna see me for one last time before a long absence is advised to do it as soon as possible. You might regret it for not making it for the coming six months, hahaha! A recent conversation with her:

jed @ KL says: i am indecisive

Laurel Jacklyn [WN] says: y all e sudden say urself indecisive?

jed @ KL says: of getting a notebook

Laurel Jacklyn [WN] says: ic... mayb u could put in a way, if u will use it and need it just get it
Laurel Jacklyn [WN] says: if u don need and don like, then don get

jed @ KL says: u know me
jed @ KL says: i think sky and think land
jed @ KL says: before buying things
jed @ KL says: that's why very seldom buy stuff for my self

Laurel Jacklyn [WN] says: sometimes when u work so hard, if u can afford it.. don mind tryin reward somethin 2 urself
Laurel Jacklyn [WN] says: else, life won't b meaningful d

jed @ KL says: cannot buy
jed @ KL says: lets put it this way
jed @ KL says: the reward that i am working hard for now
jed @ KL says: is saving enough for marriage (*ahems* please, no comments on this)

Laurel Jacklyn [WN] says: oic
Laurel Jacklyn [WN] says: yeah... me too
Laurel Jacklyn [WN] says: cos 2day lunch time, they all go bodyglove buy shirts
Laurel Jacklyn [WN] says: got 1 shirt i really like it and nice

jed @ KL says: you already bought so much in SG still wanna buy?

Laurel Jacklyn [WN] says: then i din buy tellin myself i need to save money for marriage
Laurel Jacklyn [WN] says: that's y din buy
Laurel Jacklyn [WN] says: will only buy when go SG

jed @ KL says: oh i pass by the same camera shop everyday drooling at the DSLR
jed @ KL says: but i remind myself of marriage
jed @ KL says: so didn't buy also

Laurel Jacklyn [WN] says: r u hintin me something?

jed @ KL says: i am using ur same sentence structure
jed @ KL says: so if u felt that i am hinting u
jed @ KL says: u is also hinting me loh
jed @ KL says: HAHAHAHAs

Am I not the bestest boyfriend in the whole wide world? OK, I'll lower my expectations to, at least one of the bestest. *clears throat and bows*

Sentosa Pt.1

I finally stepped foot on Sentosa, I should be awarded with some recognition for my ability to delay plans and procrastinate. Why? Because the first mental note I made to myself when I initially arrived in SG was, make a trip to Sentosa as soon as possible, who knows how long I'll be here. And that was about a year ago, when the monorail connecting there directly from VivoCity has yet to be completed. I rule. Also not forgetting the fact that Malaysians now enjoy a 50% discount on the package, is another factor that lead me to this trip. Now, I am stingy and I procrastinate. I so rule.

The package I bought, yah, the 50% discounted one, includes access into the Merlion, access into Images of SG, access to Fort Siloso, ride on the Sky Tower, one free drink in Skybar, and a free 6R Digital Photo at Merlion (which costs an insane $20, and the package only costs $28). Equipped with TheCard, a few friends of the girlfriend, herself and I made our way there by late afternoon. I have to say that its freaking convenient heading to Sentosa nowadays, like buy the ticket, board the monorail and the next thing you realize, you're already there. So fast can? Even faster than fast food (I am very tempted to put wtf here, but I shall not).

TheCard. As you can obviously notice, I totally forgot to take a picture of it beforehand, hence all the ugly strikes. Apologies...

Standing at 37 metres tall, the Merlion in Sentosa was our first stop, or somehow, the monorail stopped there first and we just decided to get off. The ground level holds numerous displays of sea creatures and its information, quite hard to read because people were just moving through and the whole area were dimly lit, some parts just with UV lights. Then we were ushered into a theatre room, where the story of how the Island and its Name came about was narrated. The funny part, some of it didn't make sense, like how at one point, the beast was an unrecognised creature and next, the island was named after the creature, becoming Singapura. So, the beast can talk or write one is it? Tsk. Tsk. (I read from somewhere else that it was the advisor who told the founder of the creature's name).

Upon exiting, we were instructed to place the coins (supposingly lucky coins) we received from the entrance into some weird looking machines, that will generate a ticket which can be used to claim some gift at the end of the Merlion tour. Took a lift to the 10th floor, first to the mouth to have our pictures taken (the camera used was equipped with a transmitter that instantly send photos taken to the printing counter, amazing stuff) then to the highest level, to enjoy the view, the sea breeze as well as the burning sun. And the tour finally ended in a souvenir shop, how clever... all the photo printing, gift exchanging and souvenir buying activities for the Merlion tour are done here.

The tallest and largest Merlion in Singapore, located in the island of Sentosa. From above, it looks as though its head has been cracked open, brain removed and replaced with antennas.

In the theatre room. There's a screen at the top left showing subtitles in various languages (Japanese, Mandarin and unsure, I think). Pretty neat stuff, huh?

View of Singapore from top of the Merlion. On the left with all those skyscrappers, would be the city centre while more towards the right would be some port (those blue, red thingys are containers).

Nothing is better than a clear blue sky on a trip, except for some air-conditioning, so hot!

The gift exchanged using the ticket from those weird machines. A set of aluminium coasters, quite nice. Everyone else got a fan, which served its purpose on that hot and humid day.

Inside the first souvenir shop. So many Merlions, I guess there's one for everyone.

The walkway and garden outside of Merlion. Nothing much around there.

Next in line was Images of Singapore. First area was filled with replicas of workstation during those yester-years of explorations and spice trading. Then, we were ushered into another theatre, and I have just one word to descrine this one, AWESOME. The initially static images had real-life movements later on, then the screen were made out of thick air, kinda similar to a 2D hologram, which was really cool. After the screening, we made out way through numerous exhibits, from the history to the culture of Singaporeans, from the early 14th up until the 20th century. Quite an elaborate set-up, I have to admit, all the festivals celebrated, races and religions, each having an exhibit on its own, very informative and educational. Schools should really do road trips here, outdoor history lessons. There were even video clips during the Japanese invasion, British occupation and Singapore's declaration, during which, I managed to catch a glimpse of a really, really young Lee Kuan Yew.

In one of the exhibits, there's a door with the toilet sign attached to it and one of us went to open it (unsure whether she's just curious or really needed to answer nature's call). And wadaya know, all of us got a fright because there was a mannequin inside the 'fake' toilet, which was totally unexpected. Although engaging, this place gave us the creeps as well because of all the mannequins being placed here and there, some with sudden but limited movements, like blinking eyes, and hand gestures. And their eyes, they look so the freaking real that it sends chill up your spine. Reminds me of a haunted house. bbbrrr... Much, much walking, we finally exited the exhibitions, into another souvenir shop. Do they know how to make money or what?

Replica of the workstation during those older times. Very old school one.

The four portraits you see up there, had lifely human like movement and features when the show began. Which was totally amazong, and on the platform below, the holographics are shown.

One family, many traditions.

One of the many exhibits, this one depicting the famous Chinese Opera. The eyes, they blink. If I were to take everything, one 256MB memory card, confirm gone.

Last but not least, I learned something there as well, that some Singaporeans worship televisions/monitors last time. Bet you didn't know that as well.

Part 2 will show the remaining places of interest included in the package, Siloso Beach being part of it.
