Upon reaching the fleet of stairs, I think most Malaysians would be reminded of Batu Caves and according to Wikipedia, there 268 steps to climb to reach the Big Buddha while Batu Caves consisted of 272 steps. Taking a decent looking photo before each of us got drenched in sweat and runs out of breath hence looking ugly.
Half way up, stopped to take a picture (and a breather). At the top finally, I sometimes wonder why do I subject myself to all kinds of torture during vacation.
17.05.2009 - A memory of making it to the top despite all odds (leg pain, toe pain, back pain, shoulder pain). Human willpower is just awesome!
The Big Buddha - up, close but nothing personal. Zoomed, not cropped from the one above.
Strolled around, the air conditioning was really tempting but I did not want to risk getting sick when there's still 2 1/2 more days to go on this trip. Getting it would be really sad, really, really sad. Photos of statues making offerings to the Big Buddha.
New disciples from Malaysia.
