On the tagboard (today) ::

jed [kelz] HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHs

Well, in the end, I've decided to plug it in after all. Maybe over the weekend because right now, I'm officially without a PC at home. OMG, I'm PC-less!!! *runs in circles, screaming in agony* Anyway, what happened was, yesterday night, the machine automagically booted, which made me a very happy Jed and everything was running fine until it suddenly shut off. I suspected it might be caused by overheating, so I rebooted and managed to check the ProcessorFan's speed, it was running only half the normal speed. And then the screen went blank. And then I could hear the fan slowing down. And then I smell burning plastic. And then I could see white smoke emitting from the processor.

Apa lagi, PANIC lah. Shut everything off in the speed of light and only much, much later did I dare to restart the machine, only to find the fan no longer working. Still wondering if the mobo and processor are alright. Else, I would need to change both, as well as the RAMs (the newer boards doesn't support DDRs anymore) which means a major upgrade, bad news indeed!

Brand New Intel Core 2 Duo Processor :: RM810

Brand New MoBoard :: RM465

Brand New DDR2 RAMs (2 x 1GB) :: RM270

Brand New 320GB Hard disk drives :: RM280

Brand New 19" LCD Monitor :: RM700

Look on the girlfriend's face when she sees the bill :: Priceless

Also, yesterday night, I headed over to SJMC with the girlfriend to pay KYtheMonkey a visit, he'll be undergoing surgery to correct a broken bone in his hand, have to reattach and reinforce with some steel rods. By the time we reach there, his parents were already leaving, just managed to exchange greetings with them. He looks, mighty fine, so I guess everything should turn out fine. The girlfriend, all she could say was, how fat he had become. So discouraging can? *prays for KYtheMonkey*

Hopefully, I'll be able to edit and post some pictures tonight, borrowing her laptop for the time being.

As random as it gets.

+ I'm home! But not for long (heading back to SG coming Monday) and I won't be around from Sat afternoon till Sun morning. So faster ask me out YumCha can?

+ My home PC's down! *kesedihan yang amat sangat* On my way home, I secretly wished that it would somehow automatically repaired itself but seems like the FairyGodMother has left me. And the worst thing is, as of current, I absolutely have no idea what's causing the problem!!! *prays its not the graphics accelerator card* No blogs! No games! No porn! No Internet! Can someone loan me a laptop? Pleaseeeee...

+ I LOVE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS! Because school holidays = less cars = less congestion = more sleep = less grumpy = less cursing = blood pressure maintained = longer and healthier life. So much benefits!

+ Granado Espada (3.5GB Game Client!!!). Refer to point #2. Enough said.

+ Last night's bus ride was horrible, due to some Indon jakuns onboard. Pissed me off so much because they were treating to themselves as though they were the only ones on board. During the stops at immigration checks and rest areas, I chatted with some other passengers and the cabin crew, even they voiced their displeasure. Fortunately, the Indons finally decided to sleep (and snored, wtf) later on. Some peace & quiet at last.

+ Been considering of plugging Advertlets into my blog as well. Thinking twice after reading this.

Ice-Ice Baby.

Indulgence :: an inability to resist the gratification of whims and desires
(Quoted from WordNet Search 3.0)

Ice-Cream :: frozen dessert containing cream and sugar and flavoring
(Also quoted from WordNet Search 3.0)

Ben & Jerry's :: a brand of ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, and novelty products, manufactured by Ben & Jerry's Homemade, Inc., headquartered in South Burlington, Vermont
(Quoted from Wikipedia)

Two scoops of ice cream, one Mint Choc Chunk :: sweet & creamy, minty & cooling taste while the bits of bitterness of the chocolate (dark chocolate perhaps) chunks elevates the flavour to a totally new level. Another would be Choc Fudge Brownie (this name is their TradeMark), tasted alright, just don't fancy the cookie doughs (or something like that) in them.

Initially I wanted to take the cone, but after looking at the size of it, and also upon recommendation from them, I decided on the waffle cone instead (have to pay extra *sweat*). For me, the texture's a little too soft, should be more crunchy, baru ada Omph!

Final note, sedaps but expensive. 2 scoops + waffle cone = 8 SGD, equivalent to four scoops of Rum&Raisin at some other ice cream selling booths. As the girlfriend always say, "Once in a while its okay". Hehehes.

Q&A.

The girlfriend tricked me into answering these today and at that particular moment, I have yet to read her update on Psychology Game. The conversation might differ a little, since I accidentally closed the chatbox, and I don't save messages.

Her: If I were to ask you to choose a creature of an animal, what will you choose?
Me: A horse (great minds think alike)

Her: Why a horse?
Me: Because they are strong, magnificent and beatiful creatures

Her: I see, and where do you see that horse at?
Me: At a vast green field with beautiful scenery in the background, got waterfalls, mountains and clear blue skies

Her: What is that horse doing then?
Me: Galloping around at high speed through the open fields

Her: How do that horse feel?
Me: Relaxed and free, feeling the cool breeze on its face

Her: What’s in the mind of that horse?
Me: How should I know, you ask the horse lah

Her: Imagine you're the horse lah
Me: Hope to be able to continue running wild and free into the unknown

Me: So, what's my test result?
Her: You enjoy your single life and the freedom assosiated with it very much. Right?

Me: *Uh-Oh*

.
.
.
.
.

Conversation continued, on the topic regarding her test results. Since she didn't put in her blog, I shall not be revealing it here as well. If you want to know, ask her, and not me. :P

Me: Wah, so ambitious
Me: *sked*
Her: Yeah... but you know I'm the demanding type of girl what

Me: Then you wanted a baby boy right? If get girl, then how?
Me: More kids?
Her: I'll see whether our financial capability can cope for another
Her: If possible, then I'll demand for a baby boy

Me: Wahrao, demand! Not try.
Her: Hehehe...

Me: *sked*

Cabbies.

We flagged for a cab. Upon boarding, E stated our destination, ViVoCity. The driver mumbled something in return, but I couldn't catch it and since E replied in agreement, I didn't bother to make him repeat. A minute or two into the journey, I noticed that we're on an unfamiliar route, which I mentioned to E. However, we came to a conclusion it might just be an alternative, cabbie knows best. Then the driver stopped and right at that moment, realization hit, miscommunication.

We informed the driver about the mistake, he just laughed, stating that he couldn't hear E clearly at that time, so he stated CableCity for reassurance, and E confirmed. E thought the cabbie said ViVoCity. We had a good laugh before continuing to the actual destination. Upon reaching, the fare came up to 7SGD; we paid. Unexpectedly, the driver only charged us 5SGD, stating that he wouldn't like to include the detour charges but we insisted, since it was indeed us who caused the error. This went on for a while before finally giving in, and I felt quite bad after that.

Just out of curiosity, if you where in a similar situation, would it have been different from my case?

Extra :: During my secondary days, I once took a cab (with a friend) from school to Leisure Mall where the cabbie got confused and thought I stated The Mall (near PWTC that one). We sensed something wrong when he turned into the city area instead of Cheras, hence we voiced our concern. Much later, in front of LM, the fare came up to a whooping RM 18+, but then the cabbie only charged us RM 10. We were thankful.

Hearts.

Unconditional Love for Music & this EarPhone

On a different note, one thing I realize about living out is that, dinner time can be really frustrating at times, because you just can't seem to decide on what and where to eat. Not to forget, needing to take into account, the price as well as portion, hunting for bargains. Its especially hard when you're feeling stingy and your brain starts converting currencies and calculating differences (Junn, rm72 McD, hoh?) And its happening, now. Die.

Malaysia Boleh!

Yet to have the chance to update myself with news back in Malaysia, until few days back. One thing that caught my attention (albeit a short one) was about assemblymen Shabudin Yahaya and Datuk Jasmin Mohamed blaming women's provocative dressing for sexual crimes.

*Laughs out loud*

Say what? Women's provocative dressing for sexual crimes.

*Laughs out loud, again*

OMG! So lame can? *my, my, what puny little brains they have* Some of our assemblymen should hop to the entertainment field and opt for stand-up comedians instead, they'll definitely do well in promoting Malaysia, worldwide. Agree? *In being a little meaner* Helloooouuuu? Left brain at home is it? Come on, can anything get lamer than this? Why not just blame the banks for robbery because people choose to save money in them instead of spending to flourish the economy. Or better still, blame manufacturers for accidents, cars can move too fast.

Lets put that aside and imagine this, a foreign investor, through the various trade fairs and aggressive promotions from our government, developed some interest for investments in Malaysia. Still having little doubts here and there, on political, economical and social stability issues, so, decided to do some research, scanning through local ongoings and business news in pur beloved country. Ooopsss, it so happens that he noticed this piece of joke, assemblymen churning out crude, sexist remarks rather than contrustive comments (any, if they're able to). Called off initial investment plans, looks at Singapore or China instead, wise decision indeed (I knew I would).

You think that's not happening? Think again. This is not even taking into account the 'bocor' incident, and an 'aging' women comparison incident.

Anyway, the fact that these remarks are coming from them, doesn't even surprise me anymore, as though, how should I put it, that's the way they're supposed to behave. Next, there'll be denials and claims of misquotation, because they said so and finally, the issue would just died off, like it never occured in the first place. And I, as the rakyat, should just learn to accept and adapt to this cycle, and I shall live happily and prosper. Malaysia Memang Boleh!

TheCompany.

And I told him, "Since its a long weekend, and according to L, the current phase of work would have been completed, why not have me reassigned to the local office?"

He kept silent for a moment, giving a thought on my proposition. He then proceeded for some sort of confirmation with L, in a language common to them, but not me. I remembered D once mentioned in a meeting, to have a common medium of communication between all, keeping things transparent but it never happened. I guess its easy to change the habit of one individual, but not the culture of a group.

He finally turned to me, "Alright then, you can head back this coming Sunday, no issues with me or L"

That was good news, one after a long absence. I booked my tickets and spread the news, its meant to be shared. All was well, until just now, when N called me into L's cubicle. Right at that moment, a negative feeling overwhelmed me, as though informing me firsthand that something bad was about to happen, and I wouldn't like that.

"I need your assistance, for the previous project cause there's some complications from the client's server, needs to be rectified from there. Would it be possible for you to extend your stay for just, about a day or two?", N said.

Needless to say, the abbreviation WTH keep on popping in my mind. It took a while before I agreed, reluctantly. I guess 2 days isn't too bad, at least I still get to spend the rest of my time in KL after and I kept that running in my mind. Then something strucked my mind, something mentioned by my colleague yesterday night about the client, something really important (sorry, but I must not reveal that here as well, too risky). I immediately brought the matter up to N, and hell, was he shocked.

I still remember clearly, that he mentioned, "It never crossed my mind, fortunately you brought that up, else all of us would be in deep trouble. They're not someone to be messed with, especially in this situation"

Much discussions and debates later, they decided its best to have someone else take over the requirement, because that seems to be the best approach, judging by the time and resource constraint. Needless to say, I was a little below estatic, after all the mess ups (not forgetting to mention, the unecessary time wasted), I'm finally still heading home this coming Sunday. It was a battle hard fought, and I prevailed.

Happy ending occurs only in fairy tales. How true.

Less than an hour, L called me into his cubicle, and guess what? (no prize for the correct answer though, so don't bother) "I'm placing you into another requirement, which will take approximately 2 weeks, starting from next Monday. You'll be working from the client's site this time around"

2 things played in my mind. The first one would be a big ass WTH billboard falling on me, and the second one, since when did I become a resource at your disposal? Needless to say I protested, and again, I had to go through every single detail of the initial discussion with D for him. I was tensed and frustrated, and I really hope he noticed that.

Much negotiations later, he said, "I'm fine with this then, you can head back this coming Tuesday and report back here the following Tuesday morning, there shouldn't be any issues arising"

I seated myself in front of my machine and let out a breath of relief, I'm glad its finally over. But deep down inside, my frustration grew stronger. There's definitely a huge difference between flexibility and inability; flexibility for reassignments to various locations for various projects, given proper time and information, inability to plan and manage resources, forcing unnecessary wastage of time and unrequired stress. I booked and ammended my tickets.

I hope what was determined today stays that way for I am already well over my limit, and things might turn ugly... Yes, I realize this might also be their culture, the way they do things, but I have already told them, and hope they remember, to take into consideration the fact that I am STILL recruited in MALAYSIA for the local office.

The above is based on a true story, representations are used to protect the identity of the actual individuals involved, and also to protect my ass.

Random images.

This was taken when I ventured onto the 25th floor, upon being informed by Edmund that our block is actually facing the port, so the sea will totally be in view. The scenery isn't exactly breathtaking, but the smooth, cool breeze that swipes the air around you, is very relaxing.

On my way to the MRT station, walking. A straight road ahead does not ensure an easy path, as you walk on cause there might be some shit laying infront of you.

Reminds me of Dutch Lady logo, the woman balancing 2 buckets of milk with a wooden pole on her back. But I think these represents the Sam Sui Women. Or maybe not.

On the bridge, heading towards Malaysia from Singapore Customs. What a beautiful day, accompanied with the beautiful feeling of heading back to my beautiful home only to be crushed by the news of heading back here a week later.

Trees, along the path to the office, it just captured my attention from this particular angle. It's like being imprisoned, looking through from within, at something beyond reach.

Listen.

Because I am uninspired, I'll be listing down the most frequently listened to songs on my mp3 as of May 18th, 2007 ::

Ne-Yo - Because Of You
I really have no idea why, but I'm like, seriously addicted to this song. It's been repeated like 295, 744 times on my player *And I know this much is true, baby you have become my addiction* To the extend that I am humming this tune whenever I'm not listening to it, omg! omg! omg! Somebody please help me!!!

Chris Daughtry - It's Not Over
Everybody loves Chris Daughtry, take that Taylor Hicks!!! Hiyeak!

Maroon 5 - Makes Me Wonder
Just because its catchy. Well, I'm just wondering, if it's just me, or did someone else also noticed that during their performance @ American Idol, Adam Levine's style reminds you of Prince?

Natasha Beddingfield - I Wanna Have Your Babies
Just too cute to resist... *Uh uh uh, uh uh, uh uh*

Good Charlotte - Keep Your Hands Off My Girl
Because of Kelz's nick the other time, I was intrigued. Now I'm hooked. This goes to all you guys back in KL a'ight? Keep your hands of MY girl, muahahaha!!! *I got brass knuckles hanging from my neck and my chain*

Linkin Park - Bleed it Out
Oh yeah! This is what I'm talking about, the stuff that initially drew me to Linkin Park! Rawk On!!! I BLEED IT OUT!!!

BM, lost?

Ish. I forgot to bring my camera along to the office, so, no pictures for today, and most probably, the week to come *shows signs of dismay and utter disappoinment* Guess I'll have to try and make some wonders, create miracles, because pictureless posts in SeedsOfLife might be less interesting to some, I dare say myself. On the other hand, nothing planned, but I've actually gone imageless for 4 posts, inclusive of this one, breaking any previous attempts on doing so. Neat huh? Yah, I know, nothing to be proud of.

For those using Blogger, did you notice that now, when creating a new post, every few minutes (I think its 3 minutes), the system actually saves a copy of your work? Its good stuff, because you know how frustrating it gets previously when your 2000 words post is gone in a matter of second due to power outage, or your publish wasn't successful, yadah, yadah all that stuff? Its all solved now, thanks to the ingenious minds behind blogger who strives to make life better for bloggers! *salutes from a programmer to another*

Lepas dah mula kerja, nak guna pun tak berpeluang. Masa kini, kalau berbual dengan kengkawan Melayu pun, ayat diaorang, bukan main rojak dengan Inggeris, contohnya, "Eh you tau tak, I think kan, si Minah tu punya boyfriend, sangat handsome lah, like Tom Cruise" lepas tu, bergelak ketawa sesama sendiri. Bukan semua, tapi kebanyakan.

Sekian. Salam mesra dari Singapura.

The OMG! post.

OMG! I nearly killed myself yesterday night, because the Spicy Sotong that I ordered for dinner was, how should I put it, so spicy can die? Tears flowed with each single bite, even after "washing" the squids in soup. I could still feel the burning sensation on my lips and toungue, even after a bottle of cold water and an ice-cream, yes, to that extend. Memory of the ordeal gives me the shivers, hence, I shall entitled that dish to be the spiciest spicy sotong in the whole of Singapore!!!

OMG! I'm still shocked to learn that Melinda got voted off, but truthfully, I kind of saw that coming, bet you did as well, didn't you? Voting based reality-series/competitions never really produce the best, but the most popular. You see Blake, he changes his image every other time, he's quite good looking, I guess, and his rendition of "You Give Love a Bad Name" is still ringing in my head. You see Gordin, she's young and lovely, somewhat quite attractive, she's confident, and all that. You see her improving week after week. Then you look at Melinda, her performance, so good since day 1, that as weeks go along, you can't help but to feel that its getting a little uninteresting? Simon once mentioned that she's so good that there's nothing he could critisize about her, which is a bad thing. Even during hometown visits, its already quite evident evident who will be garnering more votes, judging from the reception alone.

One thing that I can be certain of is, this is definitely not the end of the road for her.

OMG! I can't believe that I've really completed the urgent enhancement module, in just 2 days, hell yeah, friggin' 2 days! I'm feeling great, wait, more that that, I'm feeling superior, above all the rest. Worship me and I shall grant you the knowledge to immortality. *Hears name being chanted over and over again* Just kidding, about the greatness thingy, just me being non-sensical. Well, in a way, it just feels good when things are going your way *all smiles*

OMG! I think there's another birthday party ongoing later in the company, for the May-Babies. Hopefully, it'll finish earlier, else I'll have to walk to the MRT station, again. That's all for now, before I'm addicted to using those 4 special characters... Edited: OMG! I just ate 3 plates of fried mee, but small plate lah.

Ah Jed love you all long time... please don't stop visiting me when I didn't update for some time.

24.

3.30pm :: Received a call from my PM. Some urgent requirements, requested me to report at the Singapore office tomorrow. I laughed but it seems like he's not joking. Negotiated for delay, he said he'll call back.

3.45pm :: Call returned, negotiation successful. Rushed to complete pending items on hand for the KL office. Booked tickets for the journey tomorrow morning.

4.00pm :: Booked tickets for Spiderman 3. Afraid of losing special boyfriend privileges if fail to keep promise of watching with her. Planned activities for the night as well.

4.45pm :: Headed over to KL Sentral to get some SGDs. Back in office, miraculously discover additional cash strapped in organizer, SGDs as well RMs. Weird but happy.

5.15pm :: Headed for home. Stuck in congestion, briefly.

5.45pm :: Reached home, inform Mum & Sis about the sudden arrangement. Guess I'm not the only person dismayed by the sudden arrangement. Began packing, felt pretty smart for not clearing everything in the luggage bag from the previous trip. *kembang-ed for a while*

6.20pm :: PC rebooted suddenly, OS failed to load. Must have unintentionally offended someone up there, attempt to fix unsuccessful, unable to locate source of problem. Continued packing, some curses occasionally.

6.40pm :: Dinner. Bath.

7.15pm :: Headed out to pick the girlfriend up and proceeded to LeisureMall. Girlfriend had her dinner while I entertained myself then shopped for some snacks. Called Dad to inform him of trip, requested for help to drive me to the Corus Hotel.

9.30pm :: The movie, supposingly to begin by 9.15pm has yet to start. Complained. Attendants surprised as well, some communication error it seems. F*ck*rs. Loads and loads and loads of advertisements. *Hates GSC*

11.55pm :: Sent the emo girlfriend home. Continued packing upon reaching home.

1.30am :: Attempt to fix PC failed, again due to unwillingness of eyes to stay open. Surrendered self to bed.

6.00am :: Rise and Shine, packed the final few pieces. Nearly fell on the stairs, cleaned self and prayed. Final check on luggage.

7.00am :: Begin journey to departure point, stuck in some terrible congestion without really knowing why. Thanks to Dad for his superb driving skills, else would definitely be late.

7.45am :: Printed ticket, boarded a super-chilled bus, thanks to the rain. Served with lousy breakfast, teased by the girlfriend who always get superb food onboard. *Tulan*

12.30pm :: Nearly boarded the wrong aeroline coach. Noticed that a few Ang Mohs (from my coach) behind me were mistaken as well. Mine was WPU 8872, while the other was WPE 8873. The journey was delayed by 30 minutes in total.

1.40pm :: Finally reached the guesthouse. Dumped my stuff and rushed to the office, supposed to be reporting in by 2pm. Not anymore. Couldn't get a cab when I needed it the most. There goes my lunch hour as well.

2.40pm :: In the office. Sat for meetings and discussions. Went online, changed my nickname, to the surprise of many. Just like Chipsmore, now you see me, now you don't.

And that my dear friends, would be one of the most hectic 24 hours of my life that I will remember, like forever. So, I'm back in Singapore again. Here's something quoted from a conversation with Julia which I find really true, not the exact words though cause I forgot. Its something along the line of, "Things are only urgent because of someone's failure to plan". *nods in total agreement*

Changed Owner liao.

To the girlfriend :: My dear, yesterday night, I discovered that I really HATE BAILEYS IRISH CREAM, hate Baileys, hate Baileys, hate Baileys, hate Baileys, hate Baileys, hate Baileys, hate Baileys, hate Baileys, hate Baileys, hate Baileys.....

Seriously, I think the previous owner of the mobile number I'm currently using has a hobby of giving out his mobile contact, or maybe he thought he still owns this number because up until know, I'm still receiving random phone calls looking for him. The weirdest thing is, the number of calls seems to increase whenever I'm in Singapore, on global roaming, which equals to freaking expensive charges. I don't think that my line is being hijacked, because my bill is still pretty moderate, and the call data are accurate, meaning, indeed I was the one who made the calls.

Furthermore, sometimes, I received random SMSes as well, contents ranging around:
1. Request to be present at some hockey matches
2. Request for notification when he returns to Malaysia for some discussion on some business plan
3. Won some contest/lucky draw
4. Dinner invitation, request for reply

Normally, I ignored them and return, they ignored me as well, I think, but there was once, when this particular individual was really persistent, sending SMS after SMS. Annoyed, as I was in the mid of a discussion, I replied him, "Sudah Mati" and finally, I was at peace. Yah, I know its bad to curse others, but I was really pissed off, so, all should be forgiven *chants mantra*. Another thing is, I normally get "Assalamualaikum" from the other side for these calls which are not intended for me, and in the initial stages, I was wondering on the reply since there's some uncertainty on whether non-Muslims can reply "Mualaikumsalam" (heard that it has now been cleared that Non-Muslims too can reply to "Assalamualaikum"). So, basically, I just replied "Hi".

I posted this because only just now, I received a call looking for this particular guy, after a long absence. Anyway, to this *clears throat* WAN IBRAHIM guy, whoever you might be, PLEASE INFORM EVERYONE that you are NO LONGER using YOUR OLD MOBILE NUMBER!!! ITS HISTORY and ITS ANNOYING ME CAN?!!?!?!! Sekian, thank you.

Sakura @ SSC.

Get to know the locals and prepare yourself for an incredible feast! That'll be my new motto the next time I'm in Singapore. What happened was, one of E's pal recommended a Japanese Buffet restaurant, located inside Singapore's Science Centre (SSC), tha main attraction being its range of desserts. Armed with nothing but an empty stomach, we braved into an unknown territory in search of good food! Our mission got delayed initially, due to the distractions of exhibits in the Science Centre, felt like kids all over again. shame. Deep in the omnitheater, we finally set foot on our destination, a small step for mankind, a giant stomach to be filled for me.

Sakura. The calm before the storm strikes.

We got an early scare because the employee seemed startled upon knowing we didn't make any reservations, then she went through the list like a dozen times before finally confirming our seats. sweat. Let the feasting begin and it was surprising to find some Thai dishes available as well, though minimal. Merely half an hour later, the place was packed beyond comprehension, there were people everywhere and it got really, really noisy. Fortunately, we're seated along the corners, somewhat shielded from an all-round noise assault. Similar to Jogoya I think, they provide mini-clips to be used for orders from the Teppanyaki section, which serves chicken, beef, mutton, lamb, salmon, dory, squid and octopus.

Tempura prawns. Scallops. Mussels topped with cheese-mayo. Sedaps.

Brocolli & mushrooms. Abalone slices. Tuna sashimi. Sushi. Various cakes & desserts. Shark's fin soup (quite good). Herbal soup with chicken (alternatively, can order tom yam).

Seasoned seaweed. Minced chicken salad. Raw baby octopus. Chuka Idako (seasoned baby octopus, I likeeeee). Various desserts that you would die for.

In the image above, bottom left, you see the purplish ball with an oranged coloured base, that's the one to die for. On the outer layer, is a thin layer of something similar to mochii, and on the inside, a layer of jelly, then another layer of cake. When you bite, it feels as though your teeth is biting through different layers of textures, amazing stuff. These things, only last a minute on the shelf, then its gone. Same with the durian puffs. Soft bread like layer wrapping chilled durian paste. Heavenly, unless you hate durians, then you can go for the vanilla puffs. Or the cakes. Or the tarts. Or the jellys. But you have to be quick & vicious, because the dessert section is always way too crowded.

Grilled squid with teriyaki sauce which is so-so only.

Steamed prawns. Scallops. Scallops in some weird sourish sauce. Pineapple fried rice. Green curry chicken. LaLas. Grilled unagi. Grilled octopus in teriyaki sauce.

OMG! Grilled Salmon. My favourite dish from this buffet because the taste and texture is totally to my liking. Even E who doesn't fancy fish have to admit its sedap. The grilled dory is quite good as well.

The moment I set eyes on the ice-cream section, I know this has to be the best buffet restaurant evah because... they serve rum and raisins flavored ice-cream omg! my favourite! totally ownz! Peppermint chocolate chip is second best.

Overall, it was an absolutely satisfying dinner (minus the noise) mainly because their variety consisted a lot of choices that is to my liking. I didn't really stuff myself silly like I mentioned previously, its not a good practise and I would not like to feel the wrath of the girlfriend. Last but not least, the cost, only 26 SGD/person, which is like totally a bargain (the other Japanese buffet that I had set me 40 SGD back weh). I will definitely be back here, you can count on that.

Happy Mother's Day.

Just wanted to take this opportunity to wish my mommy dearest, who doesn't read my blog, or even know the existence of this blog, I think, Happy Mother's Day. Thank for everything, cause if I wanted to list down every single thing here, it would take more than forever.

This goes out to all the other mother's out there as well. Makes me wonder if any mothers out there that actually drops by...

The art of...

slaughtering a frog, or better known as, ze Tin Kai. Well, it seems like the Eat Your Porridge post has attracted a handful of response, on the Tin Kai that is (I surprised that so many of you actually loves that stuff) and now, I'm a little curious. How many of you has actually seen for yourself, the slaughtering of the jumping creature into the bits and pieces that you eat. I kinda noticed, public slaughtering is not commonly sighted anymore nowadays, mainly due to the establishment modern markets, I guess, which maintains a certain level of hygienic practises (its a mess I tell you). If luck is on your side, you might just come across one at your local Night Market (pasar malam).

Well, let Jed enlightened you with the knowledge on how a typical vendor, let's name him AhHuat in this instance, prepares his goods. Before proceeding, let me just say that this is a no image post but if you're quite imaginative, you might just slightly gross yourself. You have been warned.

A typical slaughtering starts with AhHuat placing a frog on a wooden platform and smashing its head with an unidentified heavy object, to immobilize or most of the time, kill it. You can still see some wrigglings on their legs after the smashing, the muscles retracting I guess. Next, the frog would be chopped off (but I saw a stall that kept the head intact before) and deskinned, layer of skin being pulled backwards from the neck, off its body but still in one piece. I guess it must be really durable/strechteable to withstand all that tugging and pulling. Frog skin purses, anyone?

Then AhHuat, would take a knife and cut an opening on the frog's stomach, to remove all the innards, which is more like a clump of unidentifieable, messy and bloody stuff (the intestines and stomach can still be recognized though). AhHuat would clean the blood off from the outer as well as inner body of the frog in a pool of bloody water after that, and proceed to chop ze frog into the standard pieces, 4 legs and the body makes 4 parts as well. Another washing before AhHuat places them into a plastic bag and pass them to you, having almost to shout to get your attention because your eyes were still shut tight.

And there you have it, what happens to the Tin Kai before it becomes the pieces in a deliciously stewed dish that you crave for, to go with porridge, sometimes. Sedaps kan? Another thing is, the description is based solely on what I saw a few years back, maybe they have a better way of doint it now.

I felt...

really, really stupid just a moment ago. What happened was, I was working on a new module and upon execution, it didn't show up on the screen. No error messages, nothing was recorded on the Event Viewer as well, no nothing, just, blank. Debugging didn't help much, nothing was wrong with the backend codes. Scanned through the UI (User Interface) codes and again, to no avail. It was really frustrating as there was totally no indication from where the problem is coming from.

So, I googled in the hope of solutions or hints to proceed, but all I found was dead end. I had no choice but to seek help from the Gurus in SG and surprisingly, they did not encounter any issue when running the module. Most puzzling indeed but it did narrowed down the source of the issue, machine settings.

A change of keywords on googling later, I found a hint! Rectified some settings on my IE and guess what, mystery solved! Rupa-rupanya it was due to the security settings on my web browser. At that moment, the word Bodoh kept repeating itself in my mind, like a marquee. Going great lengths ahead to hunt for the treasure when it is actually just behind you.

That's Kisah Seorang Programmer Yang Terlampau Bodohs for you.

+ I think I need to change my handphone as well; the problem, and its becoming more and more frequent, is that whenever a call comes in, it'll ring twice then shut itself off like, automated call divert. I wonder if its the battery, or the phone itself...

Don't pray pray. Its a porridge centre man, not stall. The cashier is even equipped with touch screen monitors, got their own uniform summore. I also want to sell porridge.

Still in Chinatown, E brought me to this particular stall, Tiong Shian Porridge Centre, should be quite famous judging by the amount of people 'hunting' for seats. Kinda lame, I know, but that's how you find good food when you're foreign, right? Then again, from E's past experience, it was good stuff. Other than porridge (pork, fish, shredded chicken, peanuts, just to name a few), they have side dishes like claypot frogs, claypot fishes, claypot meehoons, vegetables, fried pig intestines, and much more. Porridges ranges around SGD 3-4 while side dishes starts from SGD1.5 (tofu mah).

We ordered Claypot Kung Pao frogs, braised tofu, Yue Sang (raw fish, not the CNY one). He took some unknown porridge, while I took the pork one.

My porridge, served with spring onions and deep-fried sliced onions (don't recall its actual name).

On the porridge itself, I have to say that its one of the biggest serving I had so far, for the same price. It was really smooth, not too thick nor waterish (I wonder if they soaked the rice in water overnight, which is believed when cooked into porridge, will have a smooth texture) and the flavouring was good, even without the presence of black pepper and sesame oil. One thing that really stand out (or maybe its just me) is that, even till the last bit, the porridge was still quite warm whereby normally, it would have cool-ed down to normal room temperature. All in all, its super sedaps.

The plate of Yue Sang, there is really a lot in there, its a large serving.

The slices of raw fish. I know it looks kinda gross, but its amazing stuff, to eat lah.

Claypot Kung Pao Frogs (Tin Kai to be exact). When it arrived, the aroma was extremely tantalizing that it makes you drool/salivate.

Yum! Look at the size of it!! All the meat!!!

Ever since I had these Yue Sang at some chicken rice stall previously, I've been craving for some. E ordered a large serving (without me knowing), even though he doesn't really fancy fish, apa-lagi raw fish! I know I suka lah, but not to the extend of clearing off everything!!! Anyway, served with lime juice and deep-fried sliced onions, soft and spongy texture, its heavenly. And the Claypot Kung Pao Tin Kais (frogs, literally), the sauce is DAMN GOOD!!! Blends really well the the porridge, I mean, you can just order plain porridge, mix it with the Kung Pao sauce and eat away. The Tin Kai meat wasn't really able to fully absorb the flavour, causing it to be a little bland, but still fresh and chewy (couldn't think of the word). The sauce, OMG, the sauce... *desire has a new flavour*

And finally, the tofu. Sorry loh, but don't really like, the sauce tasted weird. I actually ate it with the Kung Pao sauce with increased its yumminess by 200! The chilli was really spicy.

The bill came up to abround SGD 23 for 2 persons, inclusive of drinks, not really expensive I would say. So, if you're in Singapore, and in Chinatown, do give this Centre a try and I know Geylang also have good porridge but this one nearer to me mah. Its a corner lot, beside the main road, opposite Pearl's Centre. Just so you know, sitting inside the stall or outside on the walkway will still cause you to sweat profusely, because its hot, and you're having porridge, what do you expect. No air conditioning, minimal ventilation, so dress casually and pray it doesn't rain halfway through. Okay, I just made myself really hungry.

Exploration: Chinatown, SG.

The view that greets you upon exiting the MRT station, the hustle and bustle of street peddlers welcomes you.

The one in Singapore, that is. Conveniently accessible, its one of those places where Cantonese is still widely spoken and some older architectures still well preserved, among the modern towers and complexes. The infamous Yangtze Cinema is also located here, in Pearl's Centre to be exact and let me clarify firsthand that I HAD NEVER patronized it okay (if you don't understand, you'll do after clicking on that link). Oh, how can I forget all the variety of food available there *drools* Food, Glorious Food...

An intersection. Notice that the building's design and architecture are preserved? Doesn't it remind you of those TVB Drama series?

Another view (close-up) of the old-school buildings.

I've never really explored the lanes between the main road although I've been there a couple of times (McD dinner and Karaoke), and its just like 30 minutes walk from where I'm staying (in Singapore, if its walkable, its nearby, I think, cause they always say, very near only, walk 30 minutes can reach). One good thing is that, the peddlers won't hassle you to buy their products, but then again, I think its because I didn't look touristy enough for them to waste their effort on me. Unlike those in our very own Petaling Street who tends to 'attack' everyone.

I forgot what this building is but I do remember that the face-lift/renovation will be completed by May 31st, in conjuction with Wesak Day in Singapore. Nice hoh?

Felt as those I was standing infront of a rich man's quarters during the older days.

Some of these streets dates way back to those times when Chinese Immigrants first arrived in Singapore. I know because information stands were erected along famous streets. *grins* I remember vaguely there's one street where the Death Houses were, mainly for the sick with no chance of recovery, where they slowly wasted away, because dying in their own homes were unauspicious. There's another street where the Brothels were. It highlighted the hardship and suffering of the 'workers', one even murdered by the 'customer' who refused to pay, whom she chased after. So sad...

The emptiness felt as though the tables and chairs are set to serve the 'unseen'. That's how I felt after reading the history... E, who was with me, felt the same. *trembles* Dunno why it's a bit senget, cause I remember the preview looks alright.

Food stalls along the way. At night, this particular road is closed to cater for the hungry stomachs. Everything from Big Prawn Mee, Fishball Noodles, Braised Pork Knuckles, Seafood, etc. etc. Quite cheap too.

After much exploration, and much more indecisiveness later, we settled down for dinner at a corner shop selling congee, which is better known as porridge in Malaysia. That, my dear friends, will come later. In the mean time, here's a view of Chinatown at night and according to E, the view was marvellous during CNY, when it was fully decorated. Dang, I missed that!

Red lanterns coming to life at night. I don't really know why, but I quite like this picture.

jed @ KL

+ I'm home! Please shower me with some love...

+ Crap, my neighbour's house is undergoing major renovation; hence I'm breathing dust and eating debris. *coughs madly*

+ Yesterday's journey was horrendous because it was way too warm and bright, can't even get a good nap. You know how in highways, the roads are sometimes shaded and sometimes ain't? So, when I close my eyes, its like glaring disco lights, shaded, bright, shaded, bright, shaded... *sreams in agony*

+ And of all the vegetables, they had to serve stir-fried cucumber for the meal *hates* Fortunately, no Poseidon nor White Chicks.

+ And the girlfriend was late again. Her Late 5 :: Me Late 0. And she had the nerves to say that it was fated that she should arrive late everytime. And she didn't even refill the tank, blinking already yo!

+ Anyway, to the girlfriend, thanks for the present, and the "treasure hunt". I'll do a post on that later.

+ News in Singapore (some age and technology section) reported about a mother, in her late 40s or early 50s I guess, playing MapleStory siut. Her character quite pro I tell you, at least its way better than mine! *ashamed*

+ That's all for now, till the next time... *red light blinking ala Ultraman, flies away*

For now, I shall be heading out to stuff myself silly with Japanese food.

Goodbye.

The Chennai Experience 4.

I felt that Blake Lewis’s performance (You Give Love A Bad Name) on American Idol last night was really entertaining; very unique and captivating, compared to others. Hopefully, it’ll be enough to keep him for another week. Results, tonight!

Last one. I was finally able to fully utilize my camera without any constraints!!! So, I mentioned previously that I was at the beach, should be Marina Beach, one of the longest in the world. While minding my own business, I can’t help but to notice quite a number of onlookers staring awkwardly at me. Can’t exactly blame them, I mean, who the heck dons full formal attire, complete with leather shoes, to the beach anyway? It’s like, wearing a Barney costume to a formal function. But it’s really a lot of hassle to change into something else, so, let them stare lah.

Formal leh?

Front view, I was halfway towards reaching the shore. My elongated shadow, cool?

Look right, beyond reach. Some kids were playing cricket there.

Look left, also beyond reach. Just to show how long the beach really is. Street peddlers all around.

One of the weirdest things is, there were no trees around, and the beach lies beside the road, feels more like a desert to me. Initially, I planned to walk barefooted to the shore, but immediately changed my mind after realizing the sand is not exactly THAT clean. I sunk a little with every step I take; it has become a task, more than a leisure stroll to head out there. The walk of faith, hahaha...

Judge for yourself when I say its not really that clean.

Further out, I finally had the sea in full view, and it was… really murky, with large and strong waves coming in all the time. Funny thing is, the sand and sea are not connected the way it should be, flat shoreline, with waves of seawater rushing in. It’s as though part of the sand was hacked off, creating a small edge overlooking the seawater. Okay, my explanation sucks, whatever. I made a video, but the wind was just too strong, it’ll be another disaster to post it up. *remember the Perhentian one?*

Murky seawater, as bad, if not, worst than KL’s very own teh tarik special..

Look, there’s the hedge and about 1 feet below, will be the shore. Weird right?

Nearby was a fishing village, not too far away, but I was lazy, a really large crowd had already gathered there. My guess would be, the fishermen have returned. Since there’s really nothing much to do, I headed back to the office. Then attended a meeting, till 10 something and got stuck in a massive congestion, where the vehicles were so near to each other that I can touch the car next to mine effortlessly, not even needing to fully stretch my hand out!!! *scary*

The nearby fishing village, crows were as many as the amount of people there.

Come and buy my fishes, fresh, big and cheap... buy 2 free 1. I made that up, okay?

Fishing boats and the round thing you see are fishing nets, not corpses.

Nearly missed my flight in the end and you know what, the stupid Indian Airlines only allowed a single hand luggage per person, INCLUSIVE of the laptop bag *curses* Luckily can stuff everything into my backpack. Needless to say, the plane was again full of Indians, and there was one particularly loud and annoying passenger, you know, those who crave for attention. Again, luckily, he was sitting quite far away. Oh, I got to witness sunrise from the plane as well, so beautiful, beyond words *beams*

Another picture of me. Someone said I look as if I’m constipating. At least, no more Chow Yun Fatts.

And since I was not able to capture the sunrise in the plane, here’s a sunset in Chennai.

Touched down at 8 something (local time) so it felt as though I lost 4 hours of my life, just like that… Went home, took a bath, and then went back to the office for another project. I’m a workaholic, self-confessed. Overall, can’t really say that I’ve experienced India, since it’s kind of limited, being a business trip (which you’re supposed to be working and not enjoying) and all. Well, at least I’ve been there, I guess. All I can do now is, look forward to the next trip, if available, hehehe.

When Project Lead Strikes.

Nothing is worst than your immediate lead unleashing his/her wrath upon you. The following conversation took place about an hour ago...

Project Lead (PL): Wong
Me: Yes?
PL: During the demo just now, your whole module didn't work.
Me: WHAT??!!??!
PL: J wasn't even able to create nor edit the items. And the whole module was riddled in bugs.
Me: *Panic mode* It shouldn't be right? I mean, the earlier deployment went fine...
PL: How should I know. We deployed the latest version you sent us.
Me: *Silence*
PL: You know J was presenting to the top level guys right?
Me: *Shit* Can we run the demo again? I'll run through the module in their server before that and clean the module up.
PL: *Shows disappointed face* I supposed so, but you know first impression counts the most right?
Me: I'm really sorry bout it. But it was really bug free the last time we tested.
PL: Anyway, I'm just kidding. *Laughs*
Me: *WTF* Wahrao weh! That's a very evil joke.
PL: It went well, no worries... *Laughs summore*
Me: *breath of relief*

I would have seriously died of heart attack earlier on...

The Chennai Experience 3.

What seems to be a lifetime in the meeting room later, I was finally heading back to the hotel, for another night, and this time around, I got a much better room *all smiles* Although the previous was actually, not that bad, but still, given a choice, I would prefer this. I was made to kinda believe good news comes in pair, because... I was told later that meeting only starts by ten the following day. Yippee!!!

Looks mighty fine, ain't it? Slightly more expensive, of course.

I wasn’t really sure if it was just the hotel, but I was surfing across 75 channels on the television, 70% of it purely Indian shows. I planned to have dinner then head out for a stroll before calling it a day, and since it was still way too early, I decided to take a quick nap. And what do you know; I woke up at 3am. WTF. I went speechless for about 10 minutes, checked the time again, take a look out of the window, browsed through the room service menu, then went back to sleep. So much for dinner and stroll.

Some random shots I took while moving around the city in the car.

Another random shot, more Wall's ice-cream peddlers.

Took my own sweet time for breakfast next morning and you wouldn’t believe what I had for lunch… Pizza Hut, because there were only two of us and theHead was in the mood for a takeaway I guess. Three words would be sufficient to describe the meal, WAY TOO SPICY. What exactly do they put in it? Jalapenos? Talking about fast-food, I was only able to come across Pizza Hut and Dominoes there, no signs of McDonald’s, KFC, or Burger King, etc. etc. Weird. Later on, theHead took me to a nearby complex, just to have a look around.

The Chennai City Centre. Photography prohibited inside. A sight for sore eyes, amongst all the other buildings surrounding it.

Unsure what this building was, but it's beautiful. Sorry for the bad photography, I took this in a moving car.

Chennai City Centre was the place, nothing really overwhelming, looks just like any other shopping destinations in KL or Singapore. Books were relatively cheap I have to say, mainly because it’s reprinted there; so, if you don’t really mind the quality, definitely a bargain. Went to some souvenir shop later on, lots of exotic bronze statues, beautiful ivory and wood carvings, shawls, hand-woven carpets but really expensive. The owner had been to KL numerous times for business he mentioned, after I told him that I was from Malaysia.

Making my way to the beach since there's still time. This picture quite old school kind of feel right?

Me Me Me. Don't comment on my hair please. Its the wind! I did not style it that way!!!

So I went to the beach next, which will be continued in another post, hahaha...
