He said, she said.

And she said "Wonder what I'll do when you're gone, you know, being all alone", letting out a soft sigh soon after. "No worries, nothing's confirmed yet. Might not be going anywhere after all." That was his reply. He knew that the possibility of him being away was pretty low at that moment. "If really required to go, you'll be back once a fortnight to see me right?" she continued. It struck him. Deep in his mind, he knew all too well where the conversation is heading, happened before and it seems to be happening again.

He kept cool. "Depends. Should the situation enable me to have some time off, I will definitely be back, but..." Before he could be done, she chipped in,"I'm not asking too much, for you to be back here with me, right?" He could hear her voice closing in to tears and it breaks his heart to know that he's the cause. "Like I said, I'll be back if I can manage. Don't wish to make a promise just to break it later on. Hope you understand." Utter silence. No words were spoken for a moment, nothing could be heard through the mobile.

"I'm just sad, you know?" her voice quivering. His mind was filled with the thought of the conversation heading nowhere. He tried to knock some sense into her,"Look, it's not like I'm heading out to have fun and leaving you behind, all that stuff. It's totally for work and business. I'm trying to earn more, you know what for? For both of us, our future, a better future!" Déjà vu. He remembered saying them, exactly the same words before, not too long ago. "I understand, just that, I'm really reluctant to have you so far away from me for such a long duration", she mentioned, to which he replied,"Trust me when I say I feel the same way. That is why I make it a point to keep in touch as often as I could".

"But that's different from you being here beside me physically, that's why I wished that you could be back more often", she insisted. He was left speechless and saw saw no end to it unless he made a promise that he'll definitely be back for her. "You know what, there's no point continuing this conversation. I'm hanging off!" She was taken aback. His harshness saddened her but at the same time she realized that her persistance is annoying him. "Please don't do this to me, we can talk this out." On the other end, he grinned as he had predicted "that" reply and knew too well what she would say next. Firmly, he said "Look, I'll talk to you again, maybe later or tomorrow. For now, let's just cool our heads off, that'll be the best for both of us now." Though hesitated, she had to agree that it was best at that moment. "OK, bye." and she hung up...

The above is just some scribblings of mine. Too bored, I am...

By the way, as you might have noticed (maybe not) that I've updated the links of my reads. Do drop me a comment if I've left you or anyone out. Or I mistakenly linked you somewhere else. Or you would prefer another nick name. Or whatever... I might entertain your request, depending on how... erm... Forget it! Blergh!
