KK trip day 1, evening...

Waiting for cabs @ KK old terminal...

Since there's nothing much to do till tomorrow, we headed to Filipino market @ somewhere close to the coasts. Hailed a cabby only to realize later that it was actually freaking near, summore kena charged 6 bucks! Surprisingly, most of the cabbies here are Wiras or Wajas, much much better maintained compared to the ones in KL. More surprisingly, they don't use meters... The cabby was good enough to advise us again and again and again and again to bargain for the goods in the market...

A view inside Filipino market... the place is damn packed, can die! But there were really, really, really, really a lot of stuff in there...

Surrounding the market were numerous stalls selling a variety of delicacies, mostly seafood (remember? coastal area mah). Funnily, most of the stalls were selling the same stuff, therefore, although many, it mainly consists of grilled seafood, grilled chicken, cendol & ais kacang, mixed rice, some soup based noodles similar to laksa and murtabak. The murtabak was kinda different because it was deep fried instead of pan fried :: according to KY, it tastes good. I didn't have any stuff because I was reserving my stomach for dinner, hehehe...

Grilled seafood section, got fish, got squid, got crab... smells great but looks dirty :: scent over sight, you decide

Some other stalls

Young children helping their parents setting up the place, or maybe they're just playing...

Murtabak...deep fried! This stall were having the most customers, therefore, we trust the locals...

A quick walk through all the stalls will leave you feeling sticky all over due to constant exposure to heat and smoke. Beh tahan weh! Further east of the market were mango stalls, the sweet scent of the mangoes can really tingle your senses. Good things never lasts as just another few steps further, the sweet scent was disrupted and we were greeted with by a humongous stall selling salted fish. This was like the haven for salted fish lovers, my hands and legs were shaking so much from the smell that I fail to take a picture... Say what you want, but this one really can die!

Mangoes!!! Yummies!!! That's KY btw...

From there, headed west to Borneo Trading Post (BTP) for souvenirs; walked past some pasar buah-buahan along the way. A humble personal opinion from me is that never get your souvenirs too soon when travelling, might regret later... Anyway, BTP's a cool place with loads and loads of souvenirs ranging from a few bucks to a few thousand!!! Some funny, totally none-related stuff found there were radio headsets and bikinis (damn sexy one weh) going off for rm10 and rm5 respectively. Oh, at the front door, they have a map of Old Borneo, which was kinda cool!

Lots of buah-buahan here, they serve fresh coconuts as well... great to relieve body heat from the scorching sun

The setting sun... captured along the way

Borneo Trading Post, on the right is the map I mentioned

After shopping, of course must makan lah! A supposingly quite femes Bak Kut Teh restaurant was just around the corner and we decided to patronize it, must eat at femes place mah! Since we could not find the place at first, we have to non-directly ask another Bak Kut Teh shop where it was, pai seh! When we finally found it, the place was really packed with people. Many people = must be sedap lah = content stomach = happy Jed! But actually quite biasa only, maybe cause nothing beats Klang Bak Kut Teh...

The femes KK Bak Kut Teh stall... Yu Kee (sounds japanese), Syarikat siut! Dun play play!

Since no one has any special preference other than munyee who does not take pork, we ordered one serving of everything

Total clean up! Owning!

The following entries will be of conquering Mount KK! Stay tuned!

p/s: mun yee has begun blogging as well... I've added her link on my frequents... show her some love y'all!!!
