Beta

Last night, I was checking out Erin's after going through JasonMumbles because I went to Jolene's to find out that she was guest-blogging from Doc's place after going through Smash's pimping post and it was only then that I found out about Blogger Beta... Ok, you can stop laughing or gaping at me now. Seriously, I mean it. I found out that Blogger is currently enabling the upgrade to Beta in batches; a link will appear on your Dashboard to inform that you're finally eligible to be their guinea piggies for Beta for the upgrade. I notice it only after reading the above-mentioned article, I have to say that I'm quite ignorant...

Its relatively easy to migrate; basically provide your current login, provide a new login (a google/gmail account) and voila! Its done and all you have to do now is wait... You'll be notified through e-mail once the migration has been completed. Next you'll login through beta.blogger.com using your google account and will be redirected to the Beta Dashboard. At this moment, I shall grant you wisdom if you're wondering what's with Google and Blogger. Its simply because Blogger has been bought by Google few years back, 2002? :: I think I was Xanga-ing at that time. If you didn't know, power to me. If you already know, power to you and go away. If you want to know the whole grandma story, Google it...

Most of the upgrades in Beta will only be accessible once you upgrade to the new templates; meaning that all your current customizations and designs will be blended into powder and flushed away reset. Resistance is futile... At current time, the supposingly new Edit HTML function/interface has yet to be implemented, which means that you'll have to apply the default templates in order to use the new features. Fear not, a copy of your current template will be saved. Now, let's have a look on some of the happier stuff, shall we?

Categorization :: Finally, our wish has been answered...

Drag and Drop :: New feature that enables blog design by adding/removing page elements... Neat! Definitely good news for CSS/HTML haters!

Others :: Uninterested improvements on security, privacy and posting, some UI changes here, there and everywhere...

I tried the messing with the page elements yesterday and it seems to be having some trouble with the codes from OneStat, anyone facing the same issue??? Oh, other than that, there seems to be some issue regarding the migration and login (seems more like user problem). I guess I'll pretty much wait until the Edit Html feature to be launched (in days) before migrating to the new template (I'm already using Beta currently). By then, I might even do a total revamp, but much depending on my eager/lazy alignment...

Lucky you!! I wanted to try it out but my accounts weren't shifted over yet... :( Boo.... I did open an account to play with the new stuff... Quite fun!
And thanks for the highlight about the email thing. I guess I've got to wait for that.

No problemo, but the notification e-mail should arrive soon after you've initiated the migration... its weird that you have yet to get it...
