Bali-wan

Arrived at Bali around six something in the evening on November 25, 2008. Have arranged for transportation with the hotel to and fro the airport prior to the trip, which is free btw and most hotels do provide this free airport-hotel tranportation btw-btw. Contacted our guide, recommended by a friend, who is quite fluent in English and listens to Mandarin songs.

No issues in language since we can converse in Malay even if the vocabs a little different. Its onne of those rare occasions when the language we learnt for the past 11 years is useful overseas, so, make full use of it. He took us to this seaside restaurant, Bali Club Cafe or something like that, around Jimbaran then disappeared, I mean left us alone to have makan at our own sweet time doing whatever we wanted to.

Seafood dinner on the sandy beach, sorry too late already no more sunset. Those dudes you see sitting in front of us are performers, moving from table to table singing songs, playing musical instruments. The vocalist cum guitarist can beat us at karaoke hands down any given time. Not sure whether they're independent or hired by the restaurant cause I neither paid nor tipped them, though I thought of doing so but in the end didn't, hahaha. Due to miscalculation and conversion, our first meal in Bali was pretty expensive.

View of hotel in the morning

Headed out to Kuta the following day since we weren't really sure of what to do yet. Strolled along the beach, shopped a little, everything seems to cost at least a hundred thousand rupiahs or more, surrounded by branded stuff. Marvelled at the huge ass double-storey Rip Curl and Roxy stores, being impressed by the number of temples all around, all those touristy stuff you know.

Okay, sien joh, continue next time.
