Tak Jadi.

There was a plan to head to Pangkor Island, her dad's hometown, not hers - the wife had kept insisting me on stating/mentioning it - but the plan tak jadi. In regards to the hometown thing, I mean it is technically correct since she was born in KL but the norm would be for the children to follow the parents', its sort of like an automated inheritance.

I guess it's just part of her rebellious nature that I have to bear with, for many, many years to come.

As for me, I never did experience the balik-kampung rush before, not that I'm longing for some - I've had enough of congestions on my daily commute to the office and back. My maternal grandparents - only my grandma now to be exact, grandpa has left us many years back - has been living in PJ for as long as I remember.

My paternal grandparents - both no longer around anymore - on the other hand used to live in the Jinjang Baru area. We still return there during the New Years as my uncle and his family remained there.

To be honest, I don't really fancy going there, loads of gangster ah bengs with modified kancils loitering around - I remember one of those year when a fight nearly broke out close to where I parked my car. So scary can! They were holding sticks and metal rods and bricks threatening one another and I just terminated my windscreen coverage on the previous renewal huhuhu. Luckily the police arrived and the gangs dispersed.

Anyway, I have to admit at that I was kinda excited of the prospect of balik-ing to her kampung until she dropped the bomb. Huhuhu. Maybe next year then...
