Row, Row, Row Your Boat.

Krabi Trip Day 2 - Canoeing - Morning

Burger King f0r breakfast, 110 baht for a set, quite expensive considering I can buy 5 Thai pancakes with that, yums, totally addicted. Headed over to @rt Canoeing to wait for our transportation which will take us to the starting point of our canoeing expedition. Truth to be told, I was pretty worried because from the brochures, there'll be like tonnes of monkeys around and if any gets near, someone would totally freak out. The others had a first hand experience the night before when a puppy named Lucky got too close. Hhhmmm...

Random moments taken in front of @rt Canoeing where everyone was applying sunscreen and inside the lori banduan. Selina doing a super action heroin stunt on the top left picture.

45 minutes of a bumpy ride later, we arrived at some very kampung-ish location, surrounded by trees and huts and a swamp. Kept our bags in a store, placed cameras and other important stuff into a waterproof carrier, listened to some instructions, boarded the canoe and off we go! The first 5 minutes were spent familiarizing ourselves with the navigation and paddling, then, we headed into the unknown, in light drizzles. Come to think of it, almost the whole canoeing experience was accompanied by drizzles of rain.

Jacklyn and the others in the background paddling into the open sea.

One with nature, ohmmm... this one is still okay but some of the waterways is so narrow that navigating through them was pretty challenging

Throughout the journey, there were monkeys, mangroove trees, crabs, walls of rocks that forms peaks, more trees, jellyfish OMG this one only Rames managed to capture a picture of it. How should I put it, its neither breathtaking nor awesomely beautiful but really serene and peaceful, makes you feel one with nature ohhmmm... or perhaps its because we're all city kids and such. Also, throughout the journey, we can hear Rames often chanting "Kao Kao Left" or "Kao Kao Right" and Jen shouting out his name because they somehow constantly paddle onto the trees, going underneath the thick branches and huge leaves. Got evidence in case they deny, lols.

Brandon and the others, the uncle you see next to him brough his family along, the guide was paddling with his wife and youngest child.

Cherrie marah us to pay more attention when paddling rather than keep taking pictures cause we always langgar her canoe just kidding lah

Evidence of Rames and Jen constantly paddling onto the trees, very hillarious

And awesome picture of me

Much, much paddling later, we exited the swamps back into the open sea only to be greeted by wavy waters and mild winds, quite scary because you're being blown off course and the canoe was rocking left and right. Our guides then directed us to a shore surrounded by walls of rocks, monkeys and an abandoned hut. Yeah, monkeys, loads of them. Oh, from this canoeing expedition, I learnt that i) monkeys will swim for food ii) monkeys eat pineapples ii) monkeys are smart cause they wash the pineapples before eating iv) monkeys in Krabi are quite gentle and tame.

Monkeys on hut, monkeys on rocky walls, monkey eating pineapples and a person very afraid of monkeys holding my hand tight

Selina, Cherrie, Jacklyn, Jen and Winnie

Don't ask me what I'm doing

Tak tau Jacklyn sedang tengok apa, perhaps she's scanning the perimeter for monkeys

The journey from the monkey shore back to our starting point was hell-ish, muscles were aching, hands were numb and having Jacklyn in the same canoe added to the damage, we weren't moving when I wasn't paddling. Sigh, how can liddat. Anyway, upon reaching the shore, we realized that it was low tide and the surface was ladened with shoots of the mangroves' roots pointing upright. Walking on them felt like those pointy stone pathways you find in recreation parks. Later, we got to know that we've paddled for closed to 4KMs and for 500 bahts, that's pretty cheap I would say. And that ends the morning session for the Krabi Trip Day 2, stay tuned for more.

Another picture of the scenery, this one quite a sight to behold ler
