I'm back! Not that I was gone anywhere far also, just plain lazy. Anyway, my string of day-off(s) ended yesterday and I'm back working today, only to be bombarded with, "Why so siao don't take Friday off as well?", by everyone, almost. I wanted to save some annual leave for holidays mah, since this does not really count, mainly due to my status being elevated to 'driver' in the family. Even more tiring than working, can? Other than that, I kinda predicted that by Thursday, things would start to get boring, leading to the decision.
Driving to work today was a breeze, stress and hassle free. How I wish it would be like this for days to come.
In total, up till now, I've 'lou sang' for only 5 times, compared to previous year where I did it for about 10-11 times. o_O
The amount of cash collected from red packets seems to be getting more and more insignificant this time around. Not that I'm complaining, it's still easy cash. Maybe its a sign that it's time I should be giving instead. crap!
That aside, Chinese New Year was like, Chinese New Year loh, same thing every year. Same question of, 'When's your turn (to get married)?' question and 'This might be the last time you receive red packets from me', which implies the same meaning, cause married couples give them, instead of receiving. Someday, I would seriously consider using the joke I heard somewhere, asking the same 'When's your turn' question to the elderly, but, at a funeral. MUAHAHAHA! Just kidding. I am a kind, obidient, caring and loving child...
I had my reunion dinner with my family on Friday night and her family on Saturday night.
On the first day of CNY, headed over to my maternal grandma's house which is located in PJ, SS2, opposite Murni's. Yes, I'm a true, blue city kid. Each family would be required to bring a dish for lunch, a tradition in the family since... since the last time I remembered. This the time where we update with the elders, chat with the youngsters, and play with the little cousins. Oh, among the cousins, I'm an in-between, my cousins are either way older or younger than me, I'm of a lost generation.
And so, each year, I see the young ones getting physically bigger, and the elder ones getting older, while I kinda remained, like, the same. Hhhmmm... Did I mention that my cousin sister's husband is a canadian? No? Well, my cousin sister's husband is a canadian, and he's huge, and he owns a farm. Cool huh? Should pay them a visit some time.
Night, we headed for a vegetarian dinner, where a few dishes somehow multiplied into 8 dishes, which we miraculously 'cleaned' everything.
On the second day, it was another lunch session hosted by my maternal grandma, over in SS2, again. Not wanting to have your mind wandering around aimlessly, both my paternal grandparents has passed away. The girlfriend joined us this time around, upon special invitation by my grandma leh. Yah, she has met all members of my extended family, so, cannot I cannot run away already one lah. Next, headed over to my dad's elder brother's house, somewhere in Jinjang, which is like a Chinese kampung (village).
Over there, we witnessed a fight, more like a pre-fight, cause they didn't really fight but was on the verge of doing so, grabbing sticks and stones, and shouting vulgarities. It was a really frightening and horrifying experience for me, cause, cause my car was parked nearby!!! Dem scared okeh? Anything happened, have to claim my own insurance leh... Fortunately, the police arrived moments later, and I learnt that patrol cars are also known as "leilio khars" (radio cars). By then, I rushed my family to cabut already, while my car is still intact, who knows they might be returning later.
Mum cooked dinner at night, and sis invited 'someone' over. :)
Anyway, no pictures because I gave my camera a holiday too. Hehehe. More updates to come. Will be heading for a steamboat dinner with the girlfriend's colleagues at her crib later.
