Sehati Sejiwa.

Jed and Jacklyn finally tied the knot on this very day - after started to plan about one year and 3 months back (I think), after proposing about one year and one month ago and after having signed the legal papers 6 months and 13 days ago. Can't really believe that so much time and effort has been spent for this one day - and it passed just like that.

Anyhow, from this day onwards, Jed can be referred to as Mr. Wong - I'm pretty fine with it - and Jacklyn shall officially be referred to as, voluntarily or not - Mrs. Wong LOLS! Or Wong Tai, Wong Si Lai, Aunty Wong, Wong Sou - all these also can.

And thus, a new chapter begins in the life of Mr. Wong - as well as Mrs. Wong - and not forgetting, this blog as well. Would life be the same for Mr and Mrs Wong now that they're seeing each other every single day? Would Mrs Wong be able to adapt to life in a totally new environment? Stay tuned to find out! *lagu TVB drama series playing in the background - just think of any songs from those big family fight for status and money series*

* Jed welcomes Jac to the Wong Family with open arms - this might look fun but you can go ahead and try to carry Mrs Wong if you ever have the opportunity - can wipe smile off face lols - and if you thought of carrying Mr Wong instead - can lose ability to smile for 1000 days*

The Night Before The Big Day.

The tradition restricts the bride and groom from meeting each other the day before marriage and for us, it was mission impossible so we met anyway - had to get the still pending items like decorating the bridal car, finalizing the ang paus, collecting the bouquet and other miscellaneous stuff done - once and for all.

But, as a sign of respect to this long time tradition, we limit our meet-each-other session to only half a day - the rest was spent preparing our houses for THE BIG FEAST, busy, busy, oh so busy.

Is the big feast part of the tradition I don't know because to me it looks more like a local culture possibly introduced by people in catering businesses - relatives and friends were invited over for makan and nothing else. Just, makan, chit-chat, drink, makan, more chit-chat, drink again and then makan summore.

Typically chinese to the roots.

Sis, CL and a few of my aunts were here early to 'decorate' the house - with balloons, ribbons and all stuff - really have to salute them for having such patience and level of enthusiasm for all this - I think they kinda expected me to throw in similar effort for them next time, no matter the type of celebration.

Instead of getting ample rest like every groom should - I was running around on errands ala office boy CIS CIS CIS right until the very last minute.

And that was not the end, being the host, I am automatically assigned with the responsibility to layan the guests - then only get to makan around 9 something and I didn't even had the chance to have a bite on my favourite Ice Kacang, woe is so me.

Hence, dessert = cans of beer, no thanks to my college mates.

After the above still had to take a bath of water filled with pamelo leaves then don myself in long sleeves and pants of white in colour in the heat of Malaysian weather, wait till midnight then pray and have my hair combed during which auspicious words such as happiness till old age, many children and all that.

Yeah, I myself never knew that a groom had to go through this hair-combing ceremony until then - all this while I thought this was a girl thing.

And FINALLY after a bowl of tang yuen (a must) and chasing all the college mates away - I was able to call it a day and get some well deserved rest. It did take a while to fall asleep due to nervousness coupled with a pounding heart but I guess the tiredness kicked in soon after.

Anxiety almost killed the great jed.

Family, relatives and friends in this picture.

Goh Dai Lai.

All I seem to be able to understand and digest from the whole goh dai lai thing is that I'm gonna lose a hell lots of money on this one - the very first time I heard of the amount that my parents were planning to propose a few months back, which according to them is the latest market rate, I almost dropped dead.

That time they proposed the amount to Jacklyn's family during the official "meet-up" - during the meal before the solemnization - I almost dropped dead, again.

And the night before I'm supposed to hand over this sum of money to Jac's family, I cried myself to sleep thinking of all the hard times I've been through for my savings - clubbing nights I've missed, the all new Nissan GT-R, all the latest gadgets and PC upgrades I refrained from buying, the trip to Japan I've been dreaming of, those car accessories that could've scored me some chiqs I've been longing for - sigh.

Anyway, on a more serious note, I really have no idea on the history as well as purpose behind this goh dai lai practice - from my own observation, its like a form of compensation to the bride's family for taking her away.

My parents glared so sharply at me that I swear I felt some pain that very instance - when I told them of the abovementioned opinion. According to them, its more like a gift of appreciation to the bride's family for having raised such a wonderful daughter and thus, our family being fortunate enough to have this wonderful daughter-in-law.

Lucky me.

Usually, the goh dai lai would be set about a week before the wedding day - but one still has the option to consult those Feng Shui masters or Sifoos or Mediums or the lunar calendar for an auspicious day, chinese being chinese. Other than the dowry HUHUHU, there's supposed to be loads of other items for this occasion as well such as bridal cakes, pair of male + female poultry, golden coconuts? wine, tobacco, sweets and sugar, fruits and loads of other unknown stuff.

Honestly, the tradition is dying fomr one generation to another - none of us were able to come up with the exact list of items required. The wiser (and older) generation when consulted, gave a similar response - haiyah, no need one lah so troublesome. Since they know best, we heed their advice and kept things simple yet meaningful - in total agreement of the bride's family. You happy, I happy, all happy - easy job.

So, what happened exactly on that day, in chronological order was - I arrived at Jac's house with my aunt (parents cannot follow) to deliver the goods - fruits, wine, liqour, some praying stuff, a piece of red cloth (to be hung above the entrance on the wedding day - kwa hung) and the dowry HUHUHU. Sat and chit-chatted while waiting for her dad which couldn't make it back in the end so exchanged gifts - received cakes, orange flavoured soft drinks - some how must be orange though I totally prefered Coke, fruits and some other stuff. Then went home for some praying plus ancestral offering session and went out for dinner with my family and aunt at night.

That's all gau tim settle close shop.

A sneak peak - this was taken during the ancestral offering session - more to come when I find the time LOLs.

Hellou SG!

I am heading down to Singapore tomorrow morning, 0700 to be exact very early right but what to do taking Aeroline mah so the journey would take approximately 5 hours - sounds like a snippet of their announcement lols - reach there afternoon already loh. Yes, I do know about the free flights down but the its still much more expensive plus the thought of travelling to and fro the airports makes me want to faint.

I've travelled once from Jurong East to Changi Airport by MRT and let's just put it this way - never again!

Anyway, we'll be staying at the Parkroyal Hotel in Kitchener Road because Jac managed to come across some promotion which we felt was quite a bargain when compared with other accomodation of similar or lower nightly rates. No particular agenda, I just need so settle some stuff which would probably take half and hour or so only, then perhaps meet some friends, eat some food, drink some tea, shop some clothes - then head home.

A little getaway trip before the new beginning perhaps...

p/s: Just so you know, Aeroline would be increasing their fares by RM 10 for trips down to Singapore starting November 18, the new one-way fare will cost RM 90 - plus 3% administrative charges if booked online.

p/s/2: ParkRoyal Beach Road is slightly more expensive than the one in Kitchener Road but of course, slightly more convenient as well.

Baby I'm Amazed By You.

So, it had to take to the final bend on the final lap of the final race and many seconds after the race winner crossed the finish line before the final scores for the driver's championship can be tallied - talk about suspense! I shall be cursing Mr. Timo Glock for many, many, many days to come.

So, Obama won with a high majority - the first African-American to be elected president of the United States. It was said that changes can happen and it has happened but very unlikely would I be able to witness something of similar impact in Malaysia - at least not during my lifetime and the next 100 years to come after my death.

So, I managed to finish the documentations. Please spare me a moment as I stare at the reflection of myself in total amazement.

Type.Type.Type.

Documentations in ABUNDANCE huhuhu! Can someone help me please because my fingers are starting to numb due to the constant typing - in high speed. To complete 4 technical documents in 3 days is an impossible task; impossible, if I may say it again, which I guess I already did. I am beginning to wonder why, each and everytime I perform this particular action, it is often followed by a series of unfortunate events.

Very much different from what I had in mind or what I hear from others - perhaps I'm not that likeable? Shouldn't be right? My chubby face plus bulging tummy and sweeter-than-caramel smile would make any stranger feel warm and comfortable around me right? Why? Tell me why? It should be sweet memories in the making for the days to come - why does it have to end up like this? Why?

Anyway, I'm just grumbling - I'm pretty sure that by hook or by crook I shall finish up everything before Friday - even if it means less eat, less sleep, less blogging and less TV - because that's just me. There's always this nagging feeling that stays around when I have unfinished business - only applicable to work, okay - even though the dateline is like, miles apart. In a way, its good news for employers (and potential ones) but bad news for the family - work would always have a priority over everything else.

Yah, I do know its bad for me to be juggling between personal life and work like this but can't help it ler. The achieve-success-through-pure-hardwork essence have been instilled and rooted deeply within me since young. Like wealth management also loh, since young, I have been shown the save, save and save for rainy days method - now, I feel reluctant to spend on myself, thinking over a purchase ten thousand million times sigh. All the money put in bank for what right, interest so little like the ikan bilis goreng on my nasi lemak - sneeze once, everything also fly away already.

Eh, off topic already - nvmlah - need to get back to work already.

The Aftermath.

Of the Canon Photomarathon 2008 - not only did I not win anything although it has already expected but you know how we sometimes enjoy giving ourselves false hope - I am currently suffering from a very bad backache.

A sharp stinging sensation can be felt from on my back from time to time and it gets worst when I try to bend down - felt as though the muscle on my back are tearing itself apart - huhuhu.

Canon Photomarathon 2008.

The Malaysian leg was held on November 1, 2008 with the flag-off point being the Boulevard area of Berjaya Times Square Kuala Lumpur. The duration of the event was to be from 0700 - 2000 which to be honest, is totally insane to me. The initial gang of the usuals had shrunk to only 2 participants - which is pretty sad.

Anyhow, I was already there around 0650 to complete the registration and lucky me for being early because just a little 10 minutes later - the queue went from horrible to you've-got-to-be-kidding-me! Imagine reaching the score 1482 on Snake 1 in your Nokia 3210.

Red people mountain, red people sea.

Due to the overwhelming response as quoted directly from the MC, the announcement of the first theme was delayed by half an hour - so, all in all, I have idled around for pretty long - finished my free meals, discussing with Adrian on where to have breakfast and lunch later, checking out products on sale, nosing around the download station, watching the clips and listening to the Canon song over and over again, on the look for chiqs friends and most importantly, scan other contestant's gears.

To which I totally regret doing because my already slimmest possible hope of winning anything was further crushed - these dudes are well equipped - flash guns, telephoto lenses, tripods, unipods, battery grip, so on and so forth. All so canggih-manggih maciam transformers.

After the initial flag-off, participants start trickling away from the Boulevard of BTS KL.

So, the rules were simple, to capture something related to the theme announced creatively. Then head to the next pit stop - the Canon Concept store in Pavillion to get the second theme within the allocated time - and finally to the Canon Concept store in KLCC for the third and final theme. There were no limitations on area or location, if you want to, you can travel all the way to KLIA or Malacca to get some shots. When done, return to the starting point and submit your images when the download station opens at 1500.

Then linger around before the results are announced later that night.

For Adrian and I, we were not planning to stay through the whole photomarathon, hence, we were pretty much done around 1300 - returned to BTS with the purpose of heading back home but to our surprise, the downloading stations were already open - pretty smart move to ease possible congestion later I would say. Submitted our images - not like can win anyway but just for the sake of submitting - and headed home because way too tired already.

Adrian in action for the first theme - looking at this picture only then I realize he really, really kurus loh.

Walking around aimlessly - snapping around aimlessly as well - good chance to stock-up on photos - can be used when lack of blogging inspiration.

One thing I realize through this event is that, there's a lot of beautiful moments or sceneries that can be captured even in this hustling city of Kuala Lumpur. Perhaps the uniqueness of things lies in the ability to stop and look around in between the zooming vehicles and individuals rushing past you with a camera in hand.

Anyway, congrats to the winner of this photomarathon, I dunno whom, who gets a Canon 40D bundled with the 17-85mm IS lense and would be heading to New Zealand for a photo clinic. More pictures to come later when I have the time to edit them.

Adrian - post photo submission picture - so happy macam baru saja graduate dengan cemerlang gemilang.
